I picked up a new 2008 Jeep Liberty yesterday. Silver Limited with tow package and moon roof. I love the open glass feeling of the moon roof and I live in NH which is cold 9 month out of the year. I sold my 2006 CRD and went back to gas. I like this vehicle more than the CRD it has more room in the drivers seat sits lower, which I like. I see everyone saying that the vehicle needs more power, it has plenty of power. As a matter of fact, I was surprised by the power because of all the reviews I have read. I thought it would be a dog. What I found was that it is just as good as my CRD deisel was and better than my wifes Honda CRV, which has very good performance. I want better fuel mileage, so I probably would have bought this engine over a larger one for that reason alone. What I love is that it is so much more comfortable than my 06 was for longer trips. I just wish it came with raised white letter tires. In 2004 I had leased a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.7 V8 which had a lot of power but I wanted the straight six and should have purchased that engine at the time. I don't lease vehicles anymore I got burned on mileage on that Cherokee. I buy all my vehicle outright now, no more leasing for me. I tried it and hated it. I hope I have very good luck with this new Liberty. I love the front grill look and it is bigger inside. Love the new dash in this vehicle. I can't say enough about it, I believe I picked the right vehicle for me and it's a Jeep and has a more manly look than my 06. And it's quiet which was the first thing my wife said to me. |

I liked the sound of the diesel too. My wife didn't but she never complained until I bought the new KK and she made comment that the CRD was loud. It must be a guy thing. I will miss the CRD but I have to say that the new KK is larger and more comfortable for me. |

KK I will take some pics today, hope it's sunny out. I will e-mail them to you. I still have to try this myself. By the way how accurate is the miles per gallon average on the vehicles computer. When I took the vehicle home it was all highway for the first 40 miles. I have 115 miles on the Jeep now, with all local no highway driving and the computer was telling me 17.1 miles per gallon. That's not that bad for a new engine not broken in. I just love this Jeep. I keep telling my wife about it and she said, then you bought the right vehicle for yourself. I love to drive it. BIG difference from my 06 liberty diesel. |

From what I can tell the MPG-o-meter is pretty accurate. I'm VERY VERY VERY disappointed that they only give you the ONE reading... What I mean is, if you had an earlier Libby with the "Trip Computer", it offered 2 MPG readings: 1 would take the average since you last pressed the "reset" button. The other showed you your real-time MPG (pretty close to real-time, anyway).. Well, they did away with the "real-time" or "eco" mode on the 2008 Overall, I give the MPG-o-meter a 1 out of 5. It bearly functions, that's it. |

NICE: KK thanks for putting those up for me. It rides as good as it looks. Very happy with this vehicle. I still have to figure out how to get the photo's from my computer to this site. Went to my dealership today and was talking with a guy I didn't even know. He was having leaking problems with his brand new four month old jeep wrangler, he was frustrated with it. He stated that he was back and forth to the dealer quite a bit. I was on the phone and he heard me talking about my new Liberty to a friend of mine. When I got off the phone he asked me all kinds of questions, then went into the showroom and was going to test drive one and possible trade his wrangler. It's only 4 month old what kind of a hit will he take on that deal. |

coco, to post pictures on here, they must be posted to an internet address... i think there are some sites out there that will help you with that.. i believe Digger knows some.. I just posted them to my website (www.hikecali.com)... they aren't accessible unless you know the actual address (www.hikecali.com/2008libby.htm).. i mean, there's no weblink from my homepage... i only mention that in case you were afraid a bunch of (other) people would see the pics (and you may not want that)... man do i babble! anyway, once they're on a website, you can put them in a message. you don't actually insert a pic into your messege here, but you insert a link to it. when posting a new message (after you hit reply), notice the button above... "Img" (between "List=" and "URL")?? you don't actually need to use that button but you can.. it just inserts the command ""... so, in my message above, where the first of your pics is, the line read " "... except, i just had to put a space between "[img]" and "http://www.hikecali....".. when you type it, there should be NO spaces:
and presto! your pic will magically appear!! |

Steve what size did you reduce those photo's to? Also, I have comcast and they have a photo site will this do, or do I use the photobucket? |

I reduced them to a width of 800. I used Nikon's software: Capture NX. It has a batch processing feature that will apply the same settings to an entire folder of photos. In this case, the "setting" was "resize to 800". I recommend you avoid Comcast like the plague.. Capture NX is available by download on Nikon's website. You can use it for free for 30 days at which time you must either buy it or hack it... I can't promote or discuss hacking on this forum, but I can tell you - I didn't buy it |

i also might mention. one thing you CAN use comcast for is webhosting. they aren't really good - i tried it on my account with limited success (frontpage extensions worked intermittantly). anyway, that's not important. you can upload files to it and they would be available on the "web". meaning you could use it to post pics here... i think the web address to link to would be home.comcast.net/~comcastusername/pic1.jpg... that's how you would have an avatar (the pic that represents the user) on here.. just be sure to resize your avatar pic to 150x150... this is way off the subject though.. if you need more help with it, email me.. |

Steve got it. I will give it a try since I am paying for comcast anyway. |
