Anyone know how to remove the shift knob off an automatic transmission? I can't stand that plain, ugly thing any more. Believe it or not I'm thinking about replacing it with one from a compass, it looks much better. |

Actually I wouldn't mind changing mine too. If the chrome part had a Jeep logo embedded in it, it would be mo betta. Paul |

any way, just give it a yank up and it will pop off on both auto and manuals more or less. Acutally the bottom chrome piece has to be turned 1/8 turn, then with a small screwdriver you wedge it between the rubber piece and the bottom chrome piece, seperate the two and the shift knob comes right off. Digger just wait, my next project is going to be taking my headlights apart and putting PIA fog lights in them (mine didn't come with factory fogs) Oh and the Compass shift knob... $15.... kick stupid |

I have not seen such a thing. I just assumed they all had them there. PS, what the heck is the obsession with the compass' knob? and why are all of you trying to get your knobs off? <--- |

is this it? I really don't see much of a difference. I know some people like change for the sake of change, but this is kinda unnecessary.

![]() thats the bullet shift knob and for the price, jeep can forget it. My local dealer has the stock compass one in stock so I'll pick it up tomorrow and get some pictures of it. |

Right...that's the one. Looks just like the one on my wife's Compass LTD. I like the way that looks. How much do they run, Joe? Dresses up the otherwise drab interior just a bit. Paul |

Paul at my stealership it was $16.79 before tax but I bet you can find it online for a couple bucks cheaper. I only bought from the dealership because they opened it up and let me measure it first. I'd just switch them and see if she'd notice |
