| Post subject: | Warming up the KK |
I'm having a problem with my KK, and before I check it out with the dealer I'd like to get the group's opinion. Should I need to let the vehicle "warm up" at all before driving? I ask because if it's the first time I've driven it that day even I let let the engine run for a few minutes (3 mins or so) when I pull out of my driveway (in D) onto the road there is a huge fan noise when I apply the accelerator, and there is next to no power. It takes a few blocks before the engine sounds what I would consider normal and I have full power. I've been putting it in 2nd lately to see if that would help but hasn't seemed to change much. I don't know if it matters, but I park my Jeep in our garage all the time. Even now it's fairly cool in there still (60-72F) during the day, maybe down to mid 50s overnight but it did this in the middle of a Canadian winter and it's still doing it today, so I don't think temperature is a factor. We don't drive it a lot - it has about 2,000 miles on it, but I'd think it should be past its break-in period by now. Sorry if this has already been discussed before, but it's kind of annoying and I'd like to know if it's something I need to take in. Is this normal? |

I have a new KK 4x2. I do not have any noise like that.I let mine warm about a minute, then go. No strange noises, or other issues, so far. I would get that checked out. That lifetime warranty is their to be used. |

I have had this problem. I noticed it started doing it really bad after I had taken a fully loaded trailer through the mountains. Over the next couple of weeks the fan would be on constantly and the Jeep would have no power, didnt seem to matter weather or not it was hot or cold out it still did it. We took it in to the dealer and they just brushed it off as something that they have heard of and is normal. After about another week of it doing it I was about ready to take it in to the dealer again but it just stopped. Now, a couple of weeks later it still isnt an issue, so I guess mine just resolved itself. Now, I had a 2000 Blazer a long time ago and it would do that until it warmed up, once it warmed up it was fine. I would take it in to the dealer though if it is doing it a lot, help make a case about a potential problem. |

LOL Lifetime warranty... that's funny! Oh right, you're from the States! Sadly, no such thing as a lifetime warranty here. But it's still within the regular warranty period. The downside will be it only happens for the first few hundred yards and then it stops, so short of having a mechanic spend the night, they'll never hear it. Hopefully they can scan and see something though. |
