I thought we should start a thread (maybe make it a Sticky someday) where everyone could post their little tips and tricks that we all learn about the KK as we go.

You may already know at least some of these, but I think hopefully there's something new here for everyone. Here are some starter tips I've discovered, or read about here in the Forum:

1.- Did you know there's a pair of recessed "handles" to use for closing the gate? ... very handy for keeping those grimy mitts off that shiny paint job.

2.- If you actuate the turn-signal lever either way and let go quickly without pushing it far enough to latch into the detented position for signaling, the signals will flash three times and stop. Great for those Interstate lane changes...

3.- See that little knob/shaft sticking out og you gauge cluster? Pressing it in momentarily will cycle the odometer display between Total miles/Trip A/Trip B displays. Holding it for a few seconds WILL reset trip A or trip B... depending on the display you are in.

4.-You probably know by now that the high-beam headlights are switched on by pushing the turn-signal lever towards the dash until it latches, but did you know when in low-beam position, if you PULL the lever TOWARDS you you can activate the high-beams momentarily, until you let go? (Also, by pulling back on the lever, it does not turn off the fog lamps. A quick way to get MAXIMUM light ahead. Otherwise, pushing the lever forward to "lock" the high beams on will turn the fog lamps off.

5.- Want to see your dashboard do a cool little diagnostic trick? Hold down the Trip a/ Trip B knob (the one in number 3), and while holding it down insert your key and shift it to the ON position (no need to start the engine)

6.- Inside the fuel-filler door is a little "hook" to hang the fuel cap on so it doesn't hang down and scratch that nice paint job you have.

7.- To activate the factory immobilization system and alarm (if equipped) on your KK, you must do either one of the following:
a. Press a power door lock switch while the drivers or passengers door is open.
b. Press the Lock button on the keyless entry transmitter (key fob).

8.- Whether you got a skyslider or a sunroof you probably already know about the "One touch" open/close feature. BUT did you know you can actually stop the skyslider/sunroof on any position you want? When opening, just press the button again and itll stop wherever you want it to.

9.- If your turn signal is flashing at a faster rate for one side or the other, check the flasher light bulbs on that side; one of your bulbs has failed.

10.- If you like driving with headlights on in the daytime, you need to know about the Parade Mode (Daytime Brightness Feature) of the dash and panel lights. Rotate the dash light dimmer control upward to the first detent to select it. This feature brightens all displays such as odometer, Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) and radio when the parking or headlights are on

11.- If you buy a KK with premium group II then ITS NOT TRAIL RATED!

12.- Even though the KK looks like a solid chunk of metal, Chrysler engineers have discovered an easier way to get into your kk... they are called doors and they are a button away johnb

13.- Using your key to start your Jeep will almost work everytime! jeepxk

14.- To disable the seat belt reminder you must do the following:

a. With the ignition switch in any position except On or Start, buckle the driver side front seat belt.

b. Turn the ignition switch to the On position and wait for the seatbelt indicator reminder function to conclude (about six seconds).

c. Unbuckle and buckle the driver side front seat belt three or more times, ending with the belt buckled.

d. Turn the ignition switch to any position except On or Start to toggle the belt-minder feature from its current setting (from active to inactive, or from inactive to active). A single chime tone will provide an audible confirmation that the programming sequence has been successfully completed.

(This does NOT disable the INITIAL chime, only the nagging repeats every few seconds.)

I think we can update this list as members of the LOST KJ/KJ forum post their tips and tricks in here!
How about it? who's next?[/i][/b]

12. While the Jeep Liberty (KK) looks like a solid chunk of metal, there are sections of the body cut away and hung on hinges forming something similar to doors. If you look closely, you'll see four plastic handle-like objects affixed to the exterior of the vehicle. Depressing the button on said handle will detach one side of the door like surfaces, thereby allowing far more convinient entry than by way of the sky-slider, sun roof, or rear hatch.

13. If you insert the key into the ignition and turn it the Jeep will start almost every time.

Did you know that by placing "helpful tips" to others in the community, you open yourself up to severe criticism? Actually you should be selling these! You know more than any salesperson I've met! And thanks for the info. I've had mine over a year and didn't know about #5.

it is possible to turn off the extremely annoying seatbelt warning chime but it involves a complicated set of steps akin to sticking your tongue out while hopping on one foot patting your head, rubbing your belly and whistling dixie.

Consult the owner's manual for further instructions.

Thanks 1ABXJ! =)
Regarding the seatbelt reminder... these are the steps you might want to follow:

1. With the ignition switch in any position except On or Start, buckle the driver side front seat belt.

2. Turn the ignition switch to the On position and wait for the seatbelt indicator reminder function to conclude (about six seconds).

3. Unbuckle and buckle the driver side front seat belt three or more times, ending with the belt buckled.

Not to start a huge debate but regarding #11, a KK Limited with Premium Group II is only not Trail Rated if the 18" wheels are on the vehicle.

Sure you can - I did. Just asked the dealer to swap them out. Heck, the way auto sales are slumping now most dealers would probably do just about anything to make a sale.

You said it... the dealer changed the wheels, not the factory.... ergo, your libby was not trail rated when it left the assembly line!

Some lighting funkiness:

The instrument panel lighting only lights up the sections that are in use based on the key position. Turn the key to the ON position and turn the headlight switch to the parking light setting. The gauges, the radio and the climate control system are lit up. Leaving the parking lights on, turn the key back to the ACC position. The lights go out behind the climate controls (because they don't operate in the ACC position).

The lights in the window switches on all the doors except the driver's door go out if you push the power window lockout button on the driver's side.
