So when i took delivery of my '09 Liberty, there was a slight scratch on the driver side door. The Jeep salesman pointed it out and told me that they would fix it at no cost to me...

So today, I dropped of my vehicle and they hooked me up with a loner. Turns out, its a new model 4WD RAV4 w/ 20,000 miles on it.

Here's the thing. When I was shopping for vehicles (started researching 2 years ago), I was pretty sure it was going to be a Jeep, Hummer, Pick-up, or maybe a Grand Vitara. I'm a fan of trucks. Now, I looked into the crossovers, but I found them to be too girly. Even the Patriot (which I really spent a lot of time testing/researching/trying to like, specifically due to gas savings) eventually turned me off.

In the end, the Liberty was the perfect compromise for me.........BUT in the back of my head, and through the whole process I thought maybe I was overlooking the more "sophisticated and refined" vehicles. Maybe it would be a better show for business. Maybe my girlfriend would enjoy it more. Maybe I'd be more responsible for purchasing one......you know those nagging maybe's.

After driving this RAV4 home, I am happy to say that I was right about getting what I wanted instead of one of these things.....i hate it and I wouldn't trade my Jeep for it if I only had the steering wheel left.

I can't stand the ride on these crossovers....they are so un-truck like. I swear just driving down the street in it I could feel guys in pick-ups looking at me like i had pink panties on. There is nothing in the RAV4 that makes me jealous. The engine is definately more powerful...but that is the only upside. Everything else is lousy in comparison and I really don't see how all the critics can keep giving the RAV4 such a great review while dumping on the Jeep.

Conclusion: Be proud of your purchase. I am.

Yeah I had a bit of buyers remorse after I bought my Liberty. I started thinking that maybe I should have sprung for the 4 door Wrangler instead, or maybe even the Commander. All in all I'm happy with my Liberty. I just wish there were more aftermarket parts/accessories for it like the KJ, but I suppose it'll happen in time.

My last girlfriend hated my Jeep.

"It's too noisy"
"It rides like crap"
"It's embarrassing when it's all dirty"

"That's fine, we'll take your Civic"

Rarely burned a lick of gas with her involved in transport after that conversation

Turns out, my girlfriend loves the Jeep. Whether or not she would have like the other ones better doesn't really matter...I was going to get what I wanted, but it was something that crossed my mind.

i feel the same way. i have always had lifted jeeps or trucks. i got rid of a ford super crew and replaced it with this liberty so it feels little, dare i say, not real manly. i need to make it tough looking. a lift and some meatier tires would do it, but i dont want to get into warranty issues. i think i am going to paint the chrome gas door it came with black to match the black plastic sport trim. metal bumpers would be nice to.

ps, not to far from you unclejjg, just south of batavia

I was happy from day one, then even happier after the lift

i love driving old chevys and dodges, but every one for the new rental cars i have had have sucked

08 ram 1500 big horn ed.
09 charger (3.5 L  )

and by far the worst was the 09 camry... the radio drove me nutz.. if you slowed down, the radio volume went down, go faster, it got louder.. and we won't even talk about the things i heard at work

heh you think the rav4 suck... you never had the chance to drive a honda element. what a pos on wheels

the reviews will all give a much better score on the element than the liberty just because its honda

they say the libby has too much plastic
not only the element has NOTHING but plastic even the floor but its as ugly as the interior from an 85 ford tempo

they say the suspension on the libby is not good
riding on the back seats of the element is like sitting in the last row of a school bus

one of my co worker has a new CRV. its not a girly suv, its an awd car just like a subaru.

oh and for the 4 door jk well ... I guess I dont like the look

Nice. I'm going to get a lift soon and some other items. Maybe we could wheel together a bit during the summer. Nothing too extravagant, but I've got about 300 acres with trails in the Southern Tier that we could selectively screw around on. We widened the trails (used to be ATV trails) this past summer so that fire trucks could use them in case of emergency.
