it came today. it is not a simple bolt on, its supposed to be, but that would be to easy. when bolting it to the stock side rails, i ordered the specific model for this, the rails are to wide to get the outside bolts through. i had to elongate the holes for more clearance. i dont know if it worked yet its to late, to cold, and to dark to find out. it should work now, i will find out in the morning. its a nice basket. it just is not a bolt on like it should be. it is a multi vehicle basket for all liberty's, grand cherokee's and durango's.

well this thing is a pos. there is no way it mounts to the stock side rails correctly. reaming the holes out did enable me to get the bolts to work but the brackets and bolts came so close to the roof that you know it will scratch the crap out of it. dont waste your time or money. i would guess that the rack that mounts to the crossovers would be a better choice. but by the time you buy the rack and crossovers you could just get a rock lizard one. live and learn. hoping that i can return it, if not i will rig something up come spring, i spent enough time freezing my butt off trying to get this thing to work.

well after seeing the rack and various other racks on crossover bars i think the rack sits to high. i went out and purchased some u bolts from the local home depot. i am going to drill a single hole in the upper mounting brackets and use the u bolts to fasten it negating the lower brackets. should work, we will see.

Sucks you're having such hassles with something that should be so easy to install. :(

u bolts didn't really work right either. they worked, but i just wasn't happy. the mopar people called me today and are sending me the hardware to mount it to the sport utility bars free of charge. needless to say i ordered the sport utility bars. good thing to have anyway i guess for canoes and such. they did admit that there catalog and online sales brochures are incorrect and the rack will not fit the 08+liberty without the sport utility bars.

still waiting on parts. the sport utility bars and the new mounting brackets should be here this coming week im hoping. i also found the company that makes the basket for mopar and they make an extension for the basket. i decided i wanted the extension and bought one. the rack should cover most of the roof, not just a little half basket any more. it will be about 2 feet longer and should look a lot better.

do you have contact info for that company?

jeepxk sportrack is the name of the company, just google it you will find it.

ok here it is. it sat to high mounted on top of the crossbars for my taste. so i slipped the croosbars through the basket and mounted it that way. i dont plan on carrying heavy items on it anyway.

tjtj - Obviously this is a little late in the game... but I'm curious about the Mopar basket myself.

I've got a skyslider - so something that mounts to siderails (front to back) as opposed to the crossbars, AND is something that I can take to the campsite, then remove to drive around with the slider open would be GREAT.

I'm curious about the basket you've got... is it THIS basket?

Page 3 has the siderail mounting instructions...

Any advice?

Thanks alot
Brendon.
