Post subject:  roof leak

its been raining whole day today and after i got into the car after work i saw water dropping from the upper right windshield corner right where the plastic meets the material of the ceiling. any of you guys experienced this ?also i dont know if its related to the day of raining but after i parked the car i was sitting and checking oout the leak the engine stalled. didnt struggle or anything, just turned off. it started right up and there is no CEL but it still worries and upsets me. 2 problems in one day is lil overwhelming.

That sucks sounds like a bad day for sure. Do you have a Moon roof? This is pretty vital information as your leak could becoming from there. It could be coming through were the mounting bolts penetrate the body for the side rails and rolling down the head liner to the front of the vehicle. Was your passenger door closed well? if so you could check the seal on the door. On a nicer day just have someone hose the seal around your door while you feel around on the inside. These are just a couple suggestions I have not really heard of anyone having a front window leakage issues. This diagnosis can be done for the other questionable area if your Jeep is so equiped, IE Moon roof. Hope this helps.

they do but i'd have a hard time thinking it would leak in that spot, or leak at all, expecially if they've never been dismounted and what not

a leaking lightbar harness was all i had for this one, one of the KK owners might have an experience though

thanks for your replies guys. i do have moonroof. i opened it all up all the way and saw some water on the inside plastic underneath the wind deflector. once the weather will get better i will do the hose experiment. should i try to fix it myself or take it to the stealer to fix it since its under the warranty?

if it's under warranty i'd let them deal with it once you figure out where the leak is

they may listen to you when you tell them whats causing the leak, they may not :P

well, then it would b up 2 them to figure it out:)
i had a problem with my 2001 civic leaking much worse than liberty and i took the whole front and interior apart to find the leak and it turned out they forgot to put the plug in at the factory.i had to replace the carpet, cruise control module and some wiring. since those times im paranoid about the leaks. hope liberty is not going to be such a bad case

Hey, I am suffering from the same type of leak where the left column meets the headliner. It happens in rainy days also. I have taken it numerous time through Delta Sonic (a car wash chain) and never a drop, but if it sits in pouring rain it seeps at the top left where the headliner and column meet. I have taken it in once and I am going to do it again next week. :x

There are 2 sunroof/moonroof drain lines in the KA. I'm sure the KK is similar. (Digger, can you verify?) There have been several KA with your problem. The drain lines were plugged. Here are the locations.

If your rig is under warranty, let the dealer handle it!

I have a solid-roofed (aka boring) KK. I had leaks both in the center of the rear window area (up top), and in the upper part above the driver's side column (corner of windshiled). Both were addressed by the dealer. No leaks now!

There is a front hose, but I don't see a rear hose in my FSM

:?: well now I'm all sorts of confused... FSM only shows one that looks like it is for the passenger side, how ever I have part numbers for 4 different hoses. Front left and right and rear left and right :?

The KA has 4 lines as well. I would guess they are the same. I only had illustrations for the right side.

Yours are way better than mine. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the KK and KA probably have the same hoses n the same places
