I want to get new wheels and tires before I get my lift. I am planning on doing this next summer. So will these wheels fit my non lifted KK? I don't want to have to wait until my KK is lifted to get wheels and tires as I know I am going to need tires before then.

I should add that I want to put 245/70R17 General Grabber AT2s on the wheels.

someone fitted this tire size on stock wheels with no problems on the road. I dont know offroad if it works. the wheels you want have the same backspace as stock wheels but they are 8'' wide so they will stick out 1/2'' to 1'' more. I think they will rub but I dont know how much. If it was me I'd do a clevis lift , pound the pinch weld and take the risk of buying them.

I'd be hesitant...

My 255/65/17 on 17x8 with 4.5 backspacing rubbed at anything more then 3/4 turn. I put the Revtek 2" lift on and now they only rub at full lock, and very lightly.

Your tires will be taller then mine, and slightly less wide. You might be saved by the backspacing on the rims you're interested in. My rims should have 5" and I would have been safe.

Your overall tire height is going to be 30.6" and an over all width of 9.8". What is going to save you from rubbing is the +25 offset.

I'm running a 255/70-16, on a 16x8 rim with a +25 offset, which works out to being a 30.3" hight and 10.2" width and I'm just barley making it with out rubbing. You are going to be taller be not as wide ... It's going to be a toss up. There is a good shot you might get some minor rub but I don't think anything too bad.

Great info fellas . . . so what I am hearing is this is a low risk expenditure with some possible minor cutting or pounding. You guys think I will be in better shape with the 2" lift? And what are the rules for inspection if my tires stick out a bit?

depends on the state, some jerk states/counties say you're not allowed to see the tires if you look down from above the flares

I was never THAT picky within reason of course

if ya came in with half your tire stickin out from under your fender like some Japanese vehicles roll i'd reject it just because it looks stupid

and most inspectors even in the strict areas will overlook stuff within reason

just drop by a inspection shop after work around where ya usually get inspections and ask, that's probably the most accurate way to find out

my guess is with our jeeps, you're not going to stick out far enough with the flares still on for it to be a problem and still turn your wheels or hit a bump without the flares commin off

I only stick out about 1/2" past the flair. The good thing with Florida is that we don't have inspections! As said above the best thing to do would be to ask but I don't think you will have a problem it's a Jeep. Jeeps are known for big wheels. Worse case just put your stock wheels on for inspections then swap then out when you get home. BUT I don't think you will have an issue.

Yeah the problem is that I was going to sell them. Although I am not due for inspection until July 2012.
