I really can't say weather either ones any better than the other, they both seem to produce about the same. What the heck go for price.

I have the K&N (63 series) on mine and love it.

This is going to be more user preference. Both look to be very good with performance gains.

Don't expect to break any land-speed records with the intake but it does add a little boost in performance and a nice growl when you get on it.

Which engine do you have in your Nitro?

According to K&N using the 63 series intake on the Nitro 3.7 got a HP boost of 11.7. The Jeep Liberty 3.7 got a HP boost of 11.25. The numbers are different so we might not be the best group to ask.

But again, its going to be user preference on which one to use.

My mechanic friend recommended K&N.

I went to a 4x4 show and got my AEM Brute Force for $220 bucks, I couldn't pass it up. I was iffy on trusting myself to oil the K&N properly so the AEM dry filter fit my needs and I feel I got a great deal.

Go with price, performance is going to be exactly the same.

I've also heard many people come back from the dealership crying... their dealerships told them:

Oiled Filter = Voided Warranty.

Check the fine print - get something in writing from your dealer (and maybe a second in case your dealer shuts down) saying they'll still honor your warranty.

"TECHNICALLY" even the AEM can void your warranty. It doesn't matter if its oiled or not. TECHNICALLY you are NOT allowed to make any modifications to your vehicle if you want to keep your warranty.

Never heard about Dry filters voiding - but I wouldn't doubt it.

I wonder if any dealership would have the Cahones to void your warranty with the Mopar intake installed....

I have a drop in K&N filter. At my last service, the dealership cleaned and re-oiled it for me, and reinstalled it.

Dealers do have the option of voiding a warranty for just about any reason. It is really up to the dealership. Some are a PIA, some are cool. Unfortunately, if they do, it is up to you to prove the modifications you have done did not cause the issue, they voided it for.

Back to the question at hand...
In my Nitro, I have the drop in K&N filter and added a "Ram air" home made mod, to get more, cold (outside) air into the air box. (It can be capped for water running.)
Image

To really feel gains you should also put a high flow muffler on as well. Got to get the air in cold and fast, and the exhaust out with less resistance.
You might look at a Volant CAI as another option.

Most vehicle owners are not aware they are protected by federal law: the Magnuson-Moss Warranty – Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act of 1975. Under the Magnuson-Moss Act, aftermarket equipment which improves performance does not void a vehicle manufacturer’s original warranty, unless the warranty clearly and conspicuously states that aftermarket equipment voids the warranty. Most states have warranty statutes, as well. Which provide further protections for vehicle owners.

In other words, that means a dealer can’t wiggle out of his legal warranty obligation merely because you install aftermarket equipment. To find out if any aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicle’s warranty, check the owner’s manual. It is likely the language you are looking for appears under a heading such as “What Is Not Covered” Although the language seems negative, remember your vehicle manufacturer is simply saying he does not cover the aftermarket products themselves. He is not saying that the products would void the vehicle warranty.

K & N is taking a firm stand on dealers trying to void new(er) car warranty because of an installed K & N filter.

Even had a small article about it in Hot Rod.

Unless..... you buy the Mopar intake, then there is no crying about warranties, its just more expensive.

So? My AEM one is meant for a 07 KA. I had to drill two holes to make it work

Just close your eyes and pick one ... There won't be much of a difference besides the sticker you get with it.

I have a 08 KK :D the 07's were still KJ's

As far as changes, you just need to drill two holes in the inner fender right next to the PCM. The KA's (Nitros) have a bracket that comes off of the PCM the that KK's don't have. Really easy to do. I also chose the AEM do the the oil - less filter
