Jeepy got washed by hand today. She still shines up nicely, even for a 10 year old vehicle with over 150,000 miles that has spent her life outdoors. :JEEPIN:

Today I sealed up a leaking seam above the tailgate opening using the Rustoleum version of Flex-Seal.

Not pretty, but effective.

Started tearing my 09 up. Removed all four brakes, pads, rotors, calipers. Rear caliper seized up and pads wore down to metal. Front caliper is leaking so going to replace it all, including the parking brake stuff. Will be installing rear locker, possibly front locker, oil pan(rusty), ATH winch bumper, winch, skid plates, and rear pinion seal.

My 09 keeps getting torn apart more and more, lol. Have the front axle out to clean up and out, instal locker, and to help replace the oil pan. So, all suspension is out except the upper A arms. Front bumper is off, grill is off, headlights are off. Rear axles are removed. Still have to finish installing the locker there, have ro install axle seals and all parking brake parts too. Will need ball joints in the lower A arms. I will finish the winch bumper install after everything else is done, and the skid plates. Going to be nice when done.

MarkZ28, post up some pics of your undead KK! I am trying to imagine what your garage looks like with all these parts all over the place, and the skeletal KK on jack stands in the center of it all. :frankie:

Got the front locker installed. Waiting to hear back for what needle bearings to use in the front axle housing to put the guts back in it. That will be one project done out of many. Cleaned up some old rusty suspension parts earlier and painted them today. Not as nice looking as new but a million times better than crusty rusty crap. Muriatic acid does great to get the rust off metal. Soak the parts in it then rinse them off, repeat until rust is gone. Cleviss were horrible, as well as the parking brake parts. I think my front driveshaft cv joint is tosst, saw that the boot is gone and looks dry inside. Anybody sel rebuilt cv ends for them? Hate to have to buy a whole shaft.

Front driveshaft CV replacement info here:

It’s relatively easy to do and not terribly expensive either.

Be sure to order the KK part because the KJ part is different. I remember the selection process on the website being slightly ambiguous.

That looks right to me!

The only other potential snafu is that on the KK an oxygen sensor sticking out of an exhaust pipe blocks the removal of the front driveshaft. (Not true on the KJ.) Be prepared to temporarily remove this oxygen sensor as part of your repair.

Came right out the front since the front axle is out, lol. Easiest part of getting it out actually. I got the cap and snap ring off, but the shaft wont budge out of the cv joint. Going to use a bigger hammer tomorrow. Boot was torn, grease had been leaking fir a while. Theres side to side play in the joint. Thats bad, if its like the first gen Durangos, if that gets bad enough and it comes apart, it takes out a lot of expensive stuff. Looks the same as this driveshaft. U joint on the axle side still feels tight but may swap it out also.

You dont by chance know what needle bearing assemblies to get to replace the black plastic bushings right behind the seals do you? They are known to wear down and cause the seal to leak. That may be part of why mine are leaking. Id like to replace them now while its easy.

Got the rear driveshaft out, rear ponion yoke off, front driveshaft cv assembly off, and cleaned/painted the front diff bracket. Front u joint on the rear driveshaft is needing replaced. Its very tight in one direction and loose in the other. Can feel a little roughness in the stiff side also. It appears no one on e bay or amazon sells u joints, just complete used or new driveshafts. Is there a u joint that I can swap in? Ill try the search here but usually have little luck.

This is how my 09 looks now. Waiting to save up to buy more parts. Can the front driveshaft u joint be replaced? I can get the cv joint and a u joint for 45 bucks, but the stock one is staked in. New one in picture looks like it uses c clips to hold it in.
