I really like that interior color. I have only seen the gray, and black interiors. The lighter color makes the interior just look larger.

Nicely done. Was the center console not working well as an arm rest for you? Can you still open the center console with this new arm rest in place?

I can lift up the new armrest to vertical position and use center console top as my right elbow support, but that too low for me. For my left elbow support I use door trim top.

Pretty yes:

Performed this morning a little trip to a local mall - pretty awesome! Jeep drivers' seat position (I seat with maximum uplifted seat, straight and almost vertical back) always was very comfortable for me. Previously I had own a KJ, it was very comfortable for driver; and now KK - I can drive all the day, hundreds and hundreds of miles without any tiredness.

Armrest was about $24 and a week from China. Sorry for bad English.

Did you have to paint it yourself? If so what did you use?

Thanks

I had it powder coated by a local shop. On my previous roof rack I used Rustoleum Hammered black paint and that always worked decently well for a couple of years, and then I’d have to buff off the rust and redo it. So with this new rack I decided to pay extra for powder coating. Hopefully the powder coating will last a lot longer! It definitely looks a lot better than I could have done myself.

Close to getting this rack myself - what did the powder coating cost you?

I think the rack probably cost something like $200-250 to powder coat. It was part of a package deal with rock sliders and my front tow bar so I can’t tell you exactly. Prices here in the Philly metro area are higher than in the Midwest for most things, so depending on where you’re at, the price could be lower.

It’s an awesome product though. You won’t be disappointed in ATH’s fabricating skills.

I'm thinking of getting it soon. When you get it installed do you mind measuring how much higher the roof rack sits? I have to go into parking garages a lot in Philly and I want to make sure it's doesn't add to much more height. Thankyou.

P.S. I would love to see a pic of your ride with all of it installed (maybe to steal some ideas lol).

I just have the OME/Bilstein 2" lift done so far but more to come.

Sure thing. Once it’s installed, probably in a week or two depending on work & nice weather, I’ll snap some photos and take some measurements. I know the rack sits lower than the OEM radio antenna in the center rear of the roof, so if you’re not currently striking your antenna in parking garages, you should be fine with an ATH rack.

Hey, I’m also in Philly! What neighborhood? I’m just west of University City in West Philly. It would be cool to have another modded KK in the area.

In case you need a good powder coater, I went with Bonehead Performance (https://boneheadperformance.com/) in Warminster. They are not cheap but they do excellent work.

Thank you very much. I actually live in Delaware but work in Philly and the tri-state area. I'm looking to find a Jeep trail close by. I think there's a place in New Jersey near the Motorsport park. I will have to check them out once I get the ATH rack.

Finally got the ATH roof rack installed! It is extremely stable and well made. Very happy with it.

Looks awesome and I love the height of it too. When I get some extra money I want to get one. Mine looks just like yours same tires and lift except mine is black and I got the headlight covers from Greece. :D

Hey thanks Metalbourne! I’m really happy with ATH’s roof rack. It’s bulletproof and a lot lower than my old roof basket too. If you’re thinking of getting one you might want to do it soon. ATH has cut some of the KK offerings in the last 6 months. No more rock sliders or rear bumpers or front bumper without a winch plate. As of now I think he still does KK roof racks and ditch light brackets, but it looks like his business is going more towards Tacomas.

ATH’s shop is here:

About to try and drill out a rusty broken bolt in the frame rail.

Image

This broke off when removing my rock sliders for powder coating. Now they’re done and I’d like to get them back on. This time I have stainless hardware.

I have a set of cobalt reverse drill bits for this grade 8 bolt. I also have an easy-out, though I hesitate to use it for fear it breaks off in the hole. Does anyone have any tips for drilling out rusted bolts like this. Lots of WD-40, obviously.

If you have a welder, welding a nut to the broken bolt can work really well, as an added bonus the heat from the weld helps break the bolt free

If not, make sure to use a center punch and get a good mark in the center to help keep the bit steady. Also I would soak it in a rust penetrant and/or use some heat to help break it free.

Things like this make me grateful that I live in Texas and rust isn't an issue here
