have permanently closed my skyslider roof by applying P L Premium glue to the front of the roof, no wind noise and no leakage in rain, as a temporary repair before gluing i used a ratchet strap but when it rained the water followed the strap like a wick .

I’m sure it sucks to have a sky slider you can’t use anymore. But it’s probably also great not to experience wind noise and leaks. Welcome to having a permanent roof. :D

Now that you do, have you given any thought to installing a Mopar roof rack? I have one for sale if you’re interested.

Drove it 600 miles to Virginia and back. The new BFG KO2’s ride quiet and smooth. They also have much much better traction in the rain vs. my old worn out tires. I do think I took a slight hit on mpg because these don’t come in 6 ply like my former Duratracs. But, I averaged about 18 mpg or so keeping the speed at 65 mph and following trucks when it was convenient to do so. I bet regearing could maybe get that up to 20 mpg. (A constant 72 mph got me 16.5 mpg so that’s why I kept the speed down at 65.)

Jeep and Trailer at the end of the day. Jeepy got an oil change and passed inspection. Trailer got a new hub.

For a while now this broken bolt was preventing me from reinstalling my newly powder coated rock sliders. The bolt broke off when I removed them for painting.
Image

Well today the bolt met its end via being drilled out...
Image

And got turned into this...
Image

Which freed up the hole...
Image

And allowed me to bolt the rock sliders back on!
Image

At one point I had to decide whether to use an easy-out, and decided against it and instead to keep on drilling. I had been hammering on the bolt and bathing it in Aerokroil for weeks, and it showed no interest in turning AT ALL. I was using vice grips on it and nothing, except rounding it off. Thus, I figured I would probably just break the easy-out in the hole and create a worse problem. I'm glad I just kept drilling it. I used cobalt reverse thread bits, and went really slowly, frequently cleaning the metal scraps off the bit and keeping it wet with oil.

I just realized I haven’t fueled up my Jeep since March 11 and I still have a half a tank of fuel in it. It's been a whole month! How's that for mpg's? (kidding)

But I also remembered that not driving it might mean my battery is running low, since there are a few mods on the Jeep that draw a small amount of current all the time. I checked it with my multimeter, and I got 11.9 volts! Not good.

So this afternoon I hooked up a small 1 amp charger/battery maintainer to slowly bring it back up. No, my Jeep is not a plug-in hybrid.

Here's the charger.

The 12.85 volt reading is after about 30 minutes of charging, so it's slowly moving in the right direction. The voltage should rise to 14.5V when charging and come down to about 13.5V float charge when the battery is full. After that I may disconnect the Jeep's battery since I'm not driving anywhere these days.

Today my KK got a much needed air conditioning recharge! After 13 years there wasn’t enough refrigerant left to cool the Jeep down below 70°. It’s much better now! 8)
