lfhoward wrote: Got rear ended today at a traffic light. It wasn't too bad damage, mostly cosmetic to the bumper cover. The worst that happened is that my trailer electrical connectors got smashed, so I won't be able to tow until I get them fixed. One is a standard 4-pin and the other is a custom 12 pin NATO adaptor for my military trailer. I will need to remake that. The other vehicle was a WK, so not much damage to his bumper either, except cosmetic. The bumper skin on the WK got a bit of road rash from my hitch. I think the impact was probably less than 25 mph. Nice that we both had Jeeps. These vehicles are tough. If he had been driving a Civic or a Camry then it would need to be towed home! I had a lady rear end me in a Toyota camery before I got my steel bumper and I got light scuffs and completely totaled her car bent the frame and everything. It was only like a 20-25 mph crash too maybe 30 |

Those ATH bumpers look awesome. The narrow hoop on the front is what I would get too. Wish I had the spare change to order some! |

No need to imagine, haha. This Honda ran into me doing about 30. The impact felt like my jeep stalled. I didn't know I was hit until I heard the hissing of their radiator. Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk |

Added a rooftop tent on my ATH roof rack. Took up the whole rack sadly, but it's awesome. Dog approved! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |

Very Nice! I hope the roof and roof rack hold without damage! I like the covered access to the pass side Jeep doors. My dog liked to climb ladders too, but going down without help, he was either suicidal and jumping, or wanted help. Hasn't figured out using the steps downwards, but at 13 years now, he's not climbing much of anything. Love your adventuremobile. Hope y'all have fun with it. |

Some jackwagon side swiped my Jeep while it was parked in front of my house ... AGAIN! The same thing happened in 2011 that happened today. The rear drivers side tire is ruined and there are white paint marks all down the rear fender. Now I need to buy a tire. $200 I didn’t need to spend. Also hoping no other unseen damage was done. The last time it happened they bent my rear axle and the whole thing had to be replaced. Fingers crossed that it still drives straight. Only silver lining is all sorts of antifreeze dripping down the street leading away from my Jeep. |

Update: The good news is, nothing is bent or broken in the rear suspension. Jeepy drives straight. I have a brand new duratrac being mounted for use as a spare. I have 80K on the old duratracs and there is still tread left, but it’s nothing like this new one. I had forgotten how deep the treads were when they were new. Once I replace the other 4, then I’ll resume a 5 tire rotation schedule. I did find out it’s time for new rear brakes, which is an unexpected expense but well worth it for safety reasons. The last time they were changed was in 2014. I’m also having a new clockspring installed and the steering angle sensor reset. This should take care of my airbag light when I turn the wheel, and I’m hoping resetting the SAS will address the traction control engagement when turning 90° on bumpy intersections in town. |

Another update. Recalibrating the steering angle sensor did fix the ESP activation. My lifted KK has never driven so smooth. |

Sorry for your Jeep. Thanks for commiserating with me! This is one of the hazards of owning a vehicle in a major city, and stuff happens. It sucks when it does. I am a lot less angry now that i know there was no major damage. |

Just to keep this thread going. In the last month: - water pump - clock spring - rear rotors and pads - new spare tire (had one destroyed) - passed PA inspection & emissions The rig is 10 years old now!! 150+K miles on the odometer - 74K on the remanufactured Jasper engine - 80K on a set of Duratracs (still going!) - 90K on my 4” JBA lift Still purrs like a kitten too. Looks like a pile of road salt after returning from a trip to Vermont. Needs a wash before it turns into a pile of iron oxide. Had a little of the white stuff in VT this last week. |
