Ok so I have had this problem twice before since I bought my liberty a year ago.

I will start my liberty and everything appears normal until I start driving. The engine will be a lot louder and the RPM's kick up a lot. I mean I'll be driving 30 miles an hour and my rpm would be in the 4000-5000 range and I can't speed up past 45 miles and hour cause my RPMs go past the 6000 and the engine sounds a lot louder than usual. This happened twice before 3 months apart and I just pulled off the road and restarted my liberty and that usually did the trick. Today it happened to me three times and the final time when I restarted my liberty it would not go away. Finally after 6 restarts it went away.

I made an appointment with jeep for Tuesday but was wondering if anyone has encountered this problem or if there is any TSB for this problem out there so I can inform my dealer cause over the phone they told me they never heard of this happening. Also my Liberty is a 4x2 automatic. Any ideas would help.

Thank you rickm and scar0 for your input. TSB Number:21-018-08. Dealer just reflashed my transmission and it seems to be running smoother. No slipping from P to R and from R to D. Only time well tell if it has fixed the problem I posted.
