Hello, I am new to this forum and I have introduced myself in intro section so I won't re-type it all and bore you. LOL! http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=43296 Anyways the stock light out of the KK is horible, plus I hate the yellow colour. So I upgraded the lights. I don't know about the new Jeeps but on my Cummins I needed to run the digital harness to prevent codes from popping up because of the low energy consumtion of the HID's because the computer thinks there is a burnt out bulb. Anyways I installed the digital harness on the Jeep anyways and no codes. The digital harness is basically the standard relay harness but it has resistors built in the harness to draw extra load to trick the computer. I don't know about you guys but I like pic's. I did have to lower the lights because they were pointing to high after and cars and pedestrians were fingering me. LOL Before

I don't know why I am putting before and after since it's ovious, but I will roll with it. LOL Before

I like to stand out of the crowd so I put HID's in everything. LOL! My truck and gixxer 1000 has HID's too. My friends even ask me to help put them in their stuff. |

I have a few questions. 1. with the HID installed do you need High beams now? I read that the High beams with HID is not that great. but maybe they are not needed now. 2. who did you buy your kit from? Was it plug and play? or did you need to cut and splice? |

But we live in a small city with little to now street lights plus we do lots of highway driving. The high beams make a big difference in the night on the highway, especially in the mountains. 2. I get all my HID's from Top Speed. http://www.hidspeed.com/Default.asp?Redirected=Y I have bought 7 kits from them in the past and all my friends buy from them too. They have super fast shipping. It takes just over a week for me to get my parts when I order and I live in a small city in Canada. I just email Tom Tom hidkingdom@gmail.com now when I place an order. I tell him what I want and then he sends me a paypal invoice. 3. Yes it is 100% plug and play. But on the relay harness you have to hook up to a 12v connection on the battery for the relay and 2 grounds. I purchase the digital harness with my kits which is your standard high low beam realy harness but it has high temp resistors built in the harness so you don't get a CEL or flickering caused by the HID's on a Chrysler vehical. You have to ask for the digital harness or they will send the standard one. Also if you dodn't have the digital harness, then you need to splice/tap in resistors into the Jeeps harness to fool the computer so it doesn't think there is a burnt out bulb since HID's draw very little power. But on the relay harness you have to hook up to a 12v connection on the battery for the relay and 2 grounds. |

LOL! I am installing the lift and getting the wheels and tires on Thursday! Diggerfreek wrote: So are the high beams improved over stock?
On the high low HID's it uses the same bulb for high and low beam. It just uses a relay to energize a coil in the HID's bulb housing to pull the bulb in and out for highs and low. So the wattage is the same but it just moves the pattern out. But the light output and colour still make the HID's shine wider, brighter and farther then the stock halogens. |
