Has anyone had the notion yet to modify the rear cargo floor area? Pretty much where ( underneath) the spare tire hangs. Put the tire on the roof rack or inside. Remove the plastic storage tray, remove the rug, and after finding maybe a gas tank skid that would fit between the "frame" rails, cut that area out, bolt/ weld the skid to the body and maybe you'd still be able to use the old floor piece and tray, just it would have a deeper bottom. Any thoughts? Lots of fab work and warranty, uh what? It would keep weight low and you could put the heavy stuff on the pass side to help even out all the weight from the drivers side. Or is this just too much work? I am willing to bet someone else has thought of this. |

Sounds like an awful lot of work but I'm sure that there's a couple of cartel fabricators over the border that'd do a great job, probably for "free" In other news, I would like it if somebody fabbed up a nice swing down tool/emergency equip organizer (on some nice pneumatic (sp) arms) to stow in the useless roof cutaways between the roof frames. |

I thought about it... lots of work for very little gain in space. not worth it imho. instead of this mod save your time and money to buy a trailer or a thule rack |
