Post subject:  Best all season/AT tires for a 2008 Jeep Liberty cheap guy
Hi I have a 2008 jeep Liberty sport and am loving it. I however Despise the stock tires. It came with the Goodyear Wrangler ST P225/75r/16 and I am having Serious issues with wet weather traction. It also has the stock 7" rims which I intend to keep. So my quest ion to all the Jeep Gurus is:
1. What tires should I be looking at that will give me great wet/snow traction but still retain decent dry road daily driven manners?
2. I do not take my precious off road at all, so mud and dirt/rocks are not a factor.
3. What is the biggest width tires I can put on my stock rims without any rubbing issues? or lift mods. Will it accept P235/r75/16 or P245/r70/16? I really like the look of the fatter tires. I must keep it stock.
4. I live in western Canada so not all tires are availble here and i am on a budget
5. I found Dunlop radial rover RVXT @ P235/75r/16 106s for $120 Cad($103 US) Is this a good deal and better than my wrangler St's?

P.S what I really want are BFgoodrich all terrain T/A KO @ Lt 235/70r'16c but those are $211.65 Cad($182.50 US) and are way out of my price range

I love the BFG ATs on our KK. Genaeral Grabber ATs are cheaper but no BFGs by any means. Also the Yokohama Geolander AT-S is a good tire and quieter on the highway then the BFGs or Generals. I would upgrade one size if I were you and get the 235/70-16s, 245/70 or 255/65-16s. JMO

From personal experience ...

I have used the Yokohama Geolander ATS and they are a very good tire. They are reasonably priced and handle them self very well in all types of conditions.

I currently run the General Grabber AT2 and am blown away at how great the tire is. The tire is extremely quite on the road, no road noise on the highway, and handles wet weather with ease.

The Yokohama Geolander is a few bucks more in price compared to the General Grabber. The General has a more aggressive tread pattern but really is an AT tire.

As for snow ... I can't answer that because I haven't been in any with the tires.

Thanks I love the look of the Grabber at2.. my new fav. I can't seem to find anyhere in Victoria.. :cry: How much should a set of 4 235/70 16 cost me?

I was going to buy Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza's for my street use due to Tire Racks review numbers and from reading on other forums. Personally I love driving on All Season tires on the road. If Off-Road is absolutely no concern, then this is the route to go.

I ended up getting Cooper Discoverer CTS due to the deal I got and availability at the time. When I bought the Jeep the tires were in really bad shape and we had snow coming in. I'm very happy with my decision. They are especially good on wet roads and have adequate siping for being very solid in the snow & ice, for an all season tire. I'm still planning on getting winter tires (Blizzak DZ-M3) because they are supposedly as good or better than studded tires and I love playing in snow.

I've heard great things about General Grabber HTS, and not so great things about other general grabbers. As far as the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza's, I've heard the same thing, people like the alenza's but dislike other types of Duelers.

My plan is ride on my Coopers 3/4 of the year, my Blizzaks 1/4, and whatever offroad tires I pick up after that for offroad. I like the idea of having dedicated tires for different applications, which should extend the life and performance of each. I'm not overly concerned how cool I look on road. I'd rather be safe and have the best traction, wear, control, and noise reduction.

The only problem with all of this is my Coopers are going to be too small when I get my lift. I may sell them and buy snows, and pick up a bigger set in the spring.

Check out the Goodyear Fortera Triple Tread on the tire rack site top rated. Very quiet top rated for wet and snow. Some tire sizes not available. The BFG's I have run, I would consider junk not safe for the road. Squirmed all over, took my set back and made them give me a refund. Just my experience.

BFG tires can squirem a bit when new to a car or truck or Jeep.
THis is normal till they break in. takes 50 to 200 miles.

I use to sell them and had to teach people this about the BFG line of tires.
They are great tires, but not for every driver..

Glad you got a refund...
