have a 2012 kk sport 4x4 with 83,000 and im really feeling like it would be better worth it to trade in for a jeep with a better aftermarket and ease of maintenance.(this is the wifes DD) something like a wrangler. i prefer older vehicles and i think that i have a better chance of getting more out of it now than i would later on with higher mileage and its only gonna get older.

its been great and my wife loves it but i feel like all repairs (i work on my own vehicles) are going to cost a ton because its not a very popular model.

only thing extra i have done to it is a tow hitch

Repairs really aren't expensive. Especially when you do it yourself. The 3.7L engine and 42RLE transmission were not specific to the Liberty platform, they've been in Dakotas and other small V6'd vehicles. The 3.7L has also been around for atleast 10 years. Parts for these will be pretty easy to get ahold of for the next few years or more.

The 3.7 has been in Older Ram 1500s, Dakotas, WK Grand Cherokees, XK Commanders, and probably even some of the older Durangos.

The 42RLE has been in TJs/LJs, and there's probably other applications, but I'm not sure.

The only time you'll have problems with fixing you're own stuff is when it comes to electrical problems. Even then as long as you know what you're doing you'll be fine for the most part.

Do you just want something that's easier to build and modify? I can understand that since we have a limited aftermarket and many things are custom made. The wife will most likely prefer the ride and how the KK drives compared to a TJ too. Hell even the LJ doesn't even ride as nice (nicer than the TJ...) than more modern Jeeps (KK, JK/JKU).

guess i kinda have cold feet with it. Have not looked much into everything it has to see how easy/accessible parts were. i do all my own work on my vehicles and didn't want to be screwed with fancy electronics.

im not too worried about big aftermarket for lifts etc. because the wife likes it kinda mellow. she wants it "nice" Ooo Ahh and i prefer raw overkill and heavy modification.

still owe good money on it and just wondering if its worth it to keep it, or better to use at as a trade in. i guess i was worried about the trans because of how new the vehicle is.

previously my newest vehicle was an 87 bmw and i prefer older cars anyhow- but maybe i can be convinced otherwise.

I hear you on older vehicles. I'm an old school manual and carb'ed v8 guy lol. If you haven't had problems yet I wouldn't worry for now. Everything you fight in this, you'd fight in a newer Jeep (JK/JKU, WK2, etc). Hell the new Cherokee has had quite a few problems since its release too.

How hard is it to install jba a-arms?
I fear not being able to get the job done myself.
Meet and greet? :D :frankie:

my wife says that about a quarter of her fuel is missing since we filled it up the night before.

can someone siphon the gas out or does the 2012 liberty model have a design that would not allow that? does the gas tank have a drain plug?

have not seen the jeep yet, but i would assume that if it had a drain that anyone could have pulled fuel pretty quickly.(assuming that it has an anti-siphon feature) i would love to rule that all out and say that maybe the fuel station pump shut off pre-maturely and we just thought it was full?

It's not too bad at all. Iirc the driver side rear bolt was a little tricky, you have to use a few extensions. The hardest part for me was lining up the arms to get the bolts started (by myself).

Did you notice a difference in how it rides, Morgan?
They're not the cheapest part, but I should probably do it in the future as I sit at 84K on stock arms.

Nope, the arms won't affect ride quality. Your alignment numbers will affect the handling characteristics though.

I need to take mine in and see if they can give me more caster, feels like I'm driving a shopping cart right now after driving the Tacoma for a while :|

Gage, if i was able to install them in under 2 hours, a cave man just may be able to install them. It's that easy luckily!

Probably should blue locktite them too, I only torqued them to Marlins 90 ft. lbs. Which is a witch on the drivers side.

Congratulations! Where are you looking down there? My friends just bought a nice home just outside of Wilmington. Homes are so much cheaper there compared to Long Island. The home they bought there would be every bit of 350+k here...

I love forums. Forums rock!

I just learned how to repair the woofers on my 90's era Paradigm Titan speakers. I've had this stereo system (Yamaha amp + Paradigm speakers) since I graduated from college, and it has always sounded awesome. Well, after 20 years the foam surrounds on the woofers have disintegrated, which causes rattling when there is bass. I am so glad not to have to buy new speakers, because it turns out this is DIY fixable!

Kudos to the AVS Forum for the intel and Simply Speakers LLC for the $25 repair kit. :google:

We haven't got a chance to get down to look at spots yet, or even look online for that matter haha. And thank you!

Haven't posted here in a while. How's everyone doing?

I saw my old KK recently. Still looks the same as I had it minus the plasti dip.

Here's a pic of my current Jeep. 2016 JKU Sport with 35s and 4.10 gears.

Been installing a bunch of fences at my Mom's place...
First two were 415 feet of 6' cedar.
W-E run, 177'
Image
This is the northern part of the S-N run, 238'. I couldn't fit the whole run in one Pic., it's just to long. LOL
Image

Then came the chain link; It starts at the north end of the Cedar, runs 157' E to the corner with a 45° short run to the east 215' run.
My rig getting a slight work out.
Image
Noth line and corner 45° done.
Image
Stretching the E line.
Image
Northern 215' part of the East line done.
Image
Still have 215' to go on the other side of the driveway.
Image
My newly refurbished trailer came in real handy!

Well crud buckets! :banghead: My Daughter's Jeep engine went south. :grim:
It's dang hard to kill a straight 6, 4.0L, but it tends to go bad quick when it runs out of coolant... :banghead: :banghead: :dead:
