I am in the market for some rock rails to help protect the sides of my KK. I have looked around on the forum and only noticed a few postings even mentioning them. I believe MtnLvr has RRO sliders and Digger has RL skinks. Anybody else have a set or have some opinion about which are better or if there is anyone else offering rock rails for the KK any cheaper than $400? Thanks! |

I'm going to be watching this one ... I'm also about to get some rails. Both companies offer 2 designs, just a slider and then a slider with a side rail. RL Sliders are $309 RL SuperSliders are $415 RRO Sliders are $305 RRO SuperSliders are $399 They are only a few bucks different in price so that's not going to really be a deciding factor. For reference here they are RL - http://www.rocklizardfabrications.com/L ... liders.htm RRO - http://www.rocky-road.com/kjrockrail.html |

I am definitely leaning toward the ones with the extra side rail to give extra protection ( seems like rocks have a way of coming in an unexpected angles if you slip ). |

when it comes time for me to get rock rails I've been told by the other half that I can get the RL super sliders, bucause I want the supersliders with the extended tubs, but she doesn't like the RRO's because in the pictures they wrap up a little bit instead of coming out from the side. |

Easy choice , go with RL , he's been on here working to make parts for us for quite a while now and has GREAT products. RRO has never been on here, and doesn't care about making things right with customer if there is a problem. Flame on but my money would go to RL |

If I were to buy some from anyone else, I'd buy rock lizards. I wasn't trying to say his weren't good. I meant that I am making my own. Oh and Tom you're such a fanboy |

Ok, this is how I see things, If your in a hurry, get RRO ones and hope for the best... Otherwise wait for the RL sliders...... now one difference I see is cross bars that go from the out side to the "frame" rail Here is the RL
Also the side is not very useful to use as a set........ I don't want to make this post sound like an infomercial, but I trust my sliders to lift the KK up

Oh and Tom you're such a fanboy Do you think you can produce your sliders and compete price wise with RL or RRO? Would you want to? Are the RL sliders not available? Do you have a prototype version? |

Not just saying since I work with RL but his Super Skinks have saved my KJ many, many times and are worth there weight in gold in my opinion(100% personal experience from some hard trails). |

Yeah I'd have to say that would be part of a decision why I'd buy from him. |

Short answer: Yes, and yes. Edit: I just realized this is a KK forum. I just read all posts since my last visit so sometimes I don't notice. My KK stuff is still down the road a little as things have been going slow.... |

How much differant is the KJ and KK for Rock Rails? I know the KK's need to be longer but are the all the mounting points differant as well?? |

I bought a set of RRO for my KJ but that was only because they were on sale for $110 and it was on ebay and I paid through Paypal so I felt a little safer giving it a shot and I have lifted my KJ on the sliders but if the price is close I would definitely go with RL |

I know the KK's need to be longer but are the all the mounting points differant as well?? From pictures I've seen, they are probably very similar. I'm assuming I'll be able to convert my design fairly easily. We'll see. |

Yes, the KK mounts up just like the KJ and requires less drilling than a KJ |

That is great news.. then Boiler can make this with less R7D cost to him. well tha tis my hopes, so this product can be brought to market from a 3rd vendor... Well I will wait for Boiler sometime in well the feature... wife says if I want rails to get a RC liberty and take that off road... |

I know the KK's need to be longer but are the all the mounting points differant as well?? Yeah, I've got the RRO sliders as at the time, I wasn't aware RL was actually making theirs for anyone other than the prototypes Digger has so I felt like I only had one option. I've been away from the board for 2+ weeks, so give me a bit and I'll dig up some photos of my RRO's. As for mounting the RRO sliders, they use the outer "pinch seam" holes but then you have to drill and tap holes in the formed tubular structural element "frame". |
