I need a full size spare before I hit the trails, thought I'd just put an AT tire on the stock spare rim.

I know it's a skinny 17" rim, but how skinny? If it's at least 6" wide, I could run a 225/75 or 235/70 to closely match my 255/65/17's.

I have the factory 18" on mine and it comes with a 235/60/18. I think someone looked into this in the past and I think you can fit like a 30" or 31" tire under there. You should jack up your truck, take off one wheel and see if it will fit under there.

Hmmm, I thought mine was a 17" rim, I'll have to double check. I'm not concerned about fitting the diameter of a matching tire under there... Just trying to save money by using the stock rim and putting a new AT tire on it.

If I can't do it, I know I can get a steel wheel cheap. Just trying to save a few bucks here and there.

There were 3 options from Jeep for wheels, 16", 17" and chrome 18".

Sorry I misread your post ... The stock wheel is 17x7. You can get a 255 series tire on that no problem. As an example General recommends that you mount there AT2 255/65-17 on a rim that is 7 - 9 wide.

I have the 16'' sports wheels and my spare was the same 16X7 wheel as the 4 others so i guess the same goes for the 17's and 18's . you should have a 17X7 rim

If your KK did not come with a "full sized spare",meaning a matching rim and tire as the 4 on the ground, then you got the temporary spare. Those temp tires/rims are very thin and you will have extreme difficulty finding a same sized tire as your other 4 to fit on that rim since they are like a 5" wide rim.

I had 16" wheels stock, and do NOT have full size spare. So my spare is 17x5 or so, thanks tjkj.

Looks like I'll be getting a 16x7 for a spare.

He's right. And as far as I know, only up to a 31" will fit under there. But, don't qoute me on that just yet.

Back in June, I had and posted having 245/70R17 (nominal 30.5" OD) MT/R installed on the KK's spare rim and it fits within the area underneath and it fits fine, although snugger than OEM.
