I know a coilover replacement lift would be better in the long run, but looking to lift my KK now on a budget. Are the strut/spacer lift kits for the KK safe? How's the performance (sway, ride quality)? Anybody who has them have any input for me? Also what is the largest tire size you can run with the 2" strut/spacer lift?

Budget lift kits are very reliable and safe. You said it yourself, a full suspension lift would be better but you can get some good wheelin with a "budget" lift.

I have the Rock Krawler "budget" lift and I've beat the heck out of it on the trails and its been great. I've been very happy with the lift.

As far as tires it will depend on the offset/back spacing of your wheels but most say you can fit a 31x10.5" tire with the right set of wheels.

You can see pics and vidoes of my truck with the Rock Krawler kit here

The coil over lift is going to provide a longer service life, how ever if on a budget, go with a spacer lift for the time. You can always sell the spacer lift later on to finance the new lift...

I think i counted six months from the time of install till the time of death for my Rusty's spacers and i didn't even wheel it. Spend the money and do it proper the first time, you wont regret it

yeah.. I'm leaning towards the JBA 2.5 lift. Digger, how are you liking it after having it for awhile?

Hi All,
I am also looking to lift my KK for some more offroad clearance.
My goal is to lift it enough to get some Goodyear MT/R or Duratrak tires on there of size 235/85/16.

If my math is correct, those tires are about 2.5" taller than stock and I would like a total lift of between 5 and 6" but I don't know what lift gives a full 2.5" - 3.5" once installed.

My budget for the lift is about $1000 so I am hoping for some ideas.

Thanks

You should be able to get that out of a JBA 2.5 easy. One nice thing about the front halft of the lift is you can add spaces to increase total lift. You have the option of running up to 3 1/4th inch spaces with works out to 1.0 to 1.25 more lift and then you can add spaces on the bottom of the clevis to help out also.

Or you can run with the RK lift up front.........

On a side note, I will have my rear 4 inch springs up for sale shortly.....
