I got 2 quotes to put a large flat black decal on my hood, to match the Liberator.
$600 and $250 I was thinking $200 tops! It's just a large piece of black vinyl. The guy who quoted me $600, I told him he's nuts. He asked what I thought it was worth, I told him $200 max. He said he has that much in material alone. So it would cost you $400 to apply 1 decal? I'm thinking of trying this stuff first, to make sure I like it. http://www.duplicolor.com/products/carart.html Then maybe I'll paint it myself. I'm just worried about resale when it's time to trade it in. A decal can be removed, not so much with paint. |

Mr. Nick You get the piece of vinyl and I'll come install it for you for $50. I use to install Clear Bra's and in fact I did the one on my KK. A Piece of vinyl should not be hard to pick up, self adhesive and properly installed no issues, can be taken back off without any problems. Just one thing to warn you about. Most vinyl is 3 mils thick and has a life of only a few years before it starts to get brittle and starts to flake apart and being black and on the top of your hook, gonna get alot of heat there. |

Go to a sign shop that does 3M car wraps that should be very inexpensive, and removable. Dave |

Back when I was thinking of having that done I wnet to a shop and the owner told me 200 but he said he wouldent do it anyway because of the the heat from the engine ruining the paint. |

I do not understand why knowing that there is someone in your own backyard, you would go any other way first..... (unless you do not know about him) Pixeldecals.com Talk to Don and he will hook you up pixeldzn (his screen name here) |

KJ-BOL he prob didnt go that route cause to apply a decal of that size is quite difficult to get perfectly straight and without bubbles... he probably wants it professionally done |

Applying it's easy asking as the areas mostly flat. You do it like tinting your windows with a water bottle with a drop of dish soap and a sqeegy. |

You can add a better heat barrer to theunder side of the hood as well. With a good think backing to prvent the heat from under. it is just the heat from above that might quicken the aging. If you do get it done, get a car cover to help slow down the aging process or park under a stuff like a garage. If it was my Jeep and I wanted it, I would get it painted on. Flat Black is a pain, but it can last longer painted. i think you can even clear coat it, but you need to talk witha Custom paint shop. I am on the internet and not always 100% correct... |
