| Post subject: | Shorter Radio Antenna with Lift |
Hello. I am just about to lift my KK (about 5 inches including the lift and the larger tires) and just realized that once I do that my Jeep will no longer make it in my garage and a few of the parking garages I use frequently. The major culprit is the radio antenna. Anyone know of a good replacement antenna that doesn't stick up any higher than the roof rails? I use my KK for daily driving and offroading so just trying to get the best of both worlds without having to ALWAYS park on the street. Thanks |

Air bags. So you can lower it and raise it.... it will cost 20X's more... |

Actually bags aren't that expensive to do. Its a light suv and you can get a basic setup done for around $2,500 +/- To answer your question I don't think there is anything available or at least anything that has been tested and proven to work. I think your best bet would be to look around eBay for a "fin" antenna like BMW's use and try to make that work. |

I've used the glass-mounted (internal) antenna's, and they've always worked just fine. $15-20 at any decent auto parts store. |

Thanks for the ideas. I am going to see if I can find a good low-profile antenna like the fin style like Mike recommended. I'll report back once I have it installed in case others want to do the same. |

Here is what a N***o owner did. "I pulled off the outer black cover took out the inside copper spring. From there I diked off the size I needed and trimmed the black cover also. Put it all back together and now I can park in the garage. The antenna is now 2.2 inches long. I have not found the reception to have changed, but were I live there is not much in the way of radio AM of FM here anyway." He claims that it works fine. His antenna did not have the extra wire wrap around the outside. In other words, his antenna has a smooth cover. Just a thought... the fin base is the Sat radio antenna, the vertical part is for AM/FM. Or you can get one from here. www.smallantenna.com It just screws right on. It has been installed on a N***o as well and works. |
