Post subject:  WeatherTech Deflector for SkySlider - Need Your Help
I am trying to get MacNeil Automotive (WeatherTech) to make a wind deflector for the SkySlider roof. Jeepin_it_real and myself have sent messages to WeatherTech asking them to consider making a deflector to reduce the wind noise that several of us on this forum loath about our SkySliders.

I drove out to MacNeil today to buy some floor liners and tried to speak to someone about the deflectors. I was told that as of the last time it was discussed, they were not planning to make anything for the SkySlider. He wrote down my name and number and said he would have someone call me. He also suggested that I have as many KK owners as I can submit Product Request Forms on their website to demonstrate that there is a market for the deflector. This is where you guys come in.

Anyone interested in a deflector for the SkySlider, please submit a Product Request Form to WeatherTech via the following link.

I've also submitted (a few weeks ago), a request to the WeatherTech CANADA site.

AND I've been looking around at other custom fab shops who may be able to help me out in town here. So far, I haven't heard anything from any of them.

here's my thought i can probably take two weather techs and cut them, then use another peice from one of the additional peices left fover form the cutting to mend the seem. after this i can fill the gap ( should be small to begin with) with black silicon, Since i really want my car to stay in show condition, that wouldnt look pleasant so my idea would be to get a fiberglass cast of the created model, then paint the cast to match my car and install with 3M double sided ( industrial strength) tape

Good to know this is the right thing to do.

When we get a cross wind it sucks. I only drive 55 and 70 never faster, as I hate tickets. so at 80 the sound must really suck donkey balls.

I took my Jeep in last week to Rigg's Brothers, a convertible top specialist in the Northwest suburbs. They acknowledged the wind noise and said that at higher speeds (80+mph), a vacuum is produced which causes the extreme wind noise. They also believe that a wind deflector would be the best and only way to reduce the wind noise so they have joined our search for a SkySlider wind deflector. They have put calls in to all their suppliers, so hopefully we will find a solution soon.

100mph is the fastest I have driven the KK so far. It sounded like the roof was going to rip off.

so i just got the money/ the guts to order two AVS wind deflectors... its the one with the raised lip... got em off ebay... my plan is to hack em up and make one big deflector... we'll see how it goes boys and girls

for the love of god let's hope this works out.... don't forget to take lots of pictures for us, and let us know how it worked. By my measurements.... our skysliders are about 42" wide.... maybe with some trimming, or heat-gun/bending, the 41.5 inch deflector would fit.

Which did you order?

its actually wider cause the roof bends... i bought the two deflectors( one 41in and one 32in b.c. thats what they had and i got them really cheap).. gunna hack em up and melt em and hopefully get a pretty solid piece... then i might see if i can fiberglass over the thing i made... maybe i can produce these bad boys

Ski Season is now well underway, and with many a trip to the mountains via windy highway... I'm dying for a solution.

Hells yes. How's it comin' along? I haven't yet heard back from Rigg's Bros and am considering trying the same.

I bet the skiing/snowboarding up there is amazing. I am generally confined to boarding on ice in Wisconsin or Michigan. I attempt to drown out the wind on the 3-8 hour road trips by blasting metal at max volume. The wind noise seems to piss me off even more in the cold. We'll defeat the SkySlider soon.

well after ordering several deflectors i have none matching... lol so i have one that i'm tryign to match and i think i've found it... i'm ordering it today and the deflector will be made soon!

What if one were to order two of the SAME deflector? That way you know the dimensions/profiles will match.

How do you plan to attach the two deflectors in the middle?

How do they attach to the roof?

The skiing is increadible up here. Lake Louise being my favorite.

I've noticed the EXACT same thing actually.... cold air outside means the wind noise is worse. I think it has to do with the pressure differential between the hot air inside the jeep, and the cold air outside. Can't really blast Metallica, System of a Down, or Zombie with the wife and her Dad in the jeep though :(

well i tried ordering ht edeflectors off ebay and i did order the same one but theere are older models and things got mixed up.... what i plan to do is take a string and get an exact measurement cross the header of the skyslider... then what i intend to do is cut the two wind deflectors so it half to one side and half to the other... i then intend to use another peice from the cut off ends of the wind deflectors and silicone or crazy glue then together with a little piece... then i'm gunna take that to my the shop of my dad's friend and have him do a fiberglass mold and have him paint it to match the color of my truck ( he has the pain in stock/made from my previous encounters with being rear-ended etc...
