That makes sense.

You should have an open diff and the traction control system uses the ABS system to brake the spinning wheel to force the conventional differential to drive you like a locker would.

Well searching the web I see that lots of folks thought they had LSD and did not, a ton of wranglers I see posting about it once they got their build sheets. So having 4x4 does not mean you have limited slip...

Which I suppose makes it easy to pick my next upgrade...so if indeed I do have an open dif and no LSD. What is the easiest/cheapest to put in there? Thinking along the lines of DTT or even Powertrax no slip. Not got the cash for selectable lockers.

Have you wheeled it yet? If so have you experienced what the traction control can handle.
I have always ordered or insisted on having a traction aid of some sort in most of the 4x4s I've owned and I was a little unhappy that it was not available.
I've used the traction control "locker" a couple dozen times so far and it was not much different from my Rubicon.

Command-Trac II is the name of the 4WD system. The old name for the limited slip, which is no longer offered was called Trac-Loc. Brake Lock Differentials take the place of the old Trac-Loc. As mentioned before, it is managed through the Traction Control system and works very well. Several people have asked me if I am locked front and rear.

So does this system just work without any input from the driver? Can you or do you have to use the brake trick to help out?

I have only had mine since the end of last year and only done a couple off road trips, and never got close to getting stuck or anything so I have not pushed it to see how far it can go yet.

The only driver input needed is the gas pedal. When one wheel starts to spin more than the others, the ABS sensors see that and activate the brake on that wheel only. That causes the power to go to the wheel with traction. You will hear and feel a "grumbling" noise as the ABS does its thing. Just give it throttle and away you go.
