So i am looking for a place to have the SAS reset and they are looking at me like i am crazy?! Do i tell them to reset the clock spring or SAS? i get the noise that sounds like tire rubbing on hard left turns, but its not rubbing! |

I read through this whole thread and I didn't see any method for fixing ESP that later people verified that it worked. Who has had their ESP activation issue actually fixed, and what did it take to fix it? |

I can say today that getting a good alignment takes care of some of the problem. It doesn't make it go away completely, but it makes the ESP less likely to engage when it shouldn't. |

Maybe I just don't drive as crazy as some of you or I got lucky. Common problem apparently. |

I am pretty sure the higher you lift, and the larger tires you run, the more ESP activation you get when turning tight corners. Gage, you still have stock size tires and a 2.5 inch OME lift, yes? |

I thought I had already posted in this thread, but for the life of me I can not find it. I took my rig to the dealer (Jan 2013) and had my SAS (Steering Angle Sensor) calibrated. My ESP no longer kicks in on hard bumpy right hand turns. It has been a couple of years now and it almost never kicks in. Cost me $60 at the dealer. It was well worth the $. |

I bought a 2012 Liberty a few days ago and it came with 235/60/18 tires. I live in the mountains and would like to have a more aggressive tire. I prefer the BFG AT but they don't make it in that size. They do make one in 255/55/18. This is the newest vehicle I've owned and I'm a bit freaked out by the number of sensors. Seems like you encounter one in so many places. I will not need an alignment but was wondering if I will encounter any issues if I fit these slightly bigger tires? Will any sensors or the speedo need to be re-calibrated? If so, which ones will take issue and who can fix it? Dealer only? Thanks all. |

Those are not really a bigger tire, wider yes but still 29 inches tall so you should be fine both sizes are almost the same height, just a difference in the 55 series -vs- the 60 series tire 55 being lower profile and wider |

Anybody actually have a new response to this? I have a 2010 kk , with 2.75" OME Rockfather lift , levelers , 255/75/18's from a 2015 wrangler and have this issue.  All the new programmers do not calibrate the speedo at all; contacted Hypertech directly and they have removed that option on all their programmers. Pulling the fuse or putting in a series switch is not a bother , but my kids drive this truck as well and they are not experienced with standard brakes. Something to calibrate this mother would be great....

Hi Guys .. I recently bought a Jeep KK .. and I took off the battery for something, now I have the Bas/Esp light on ..i have tried to do the Esp calibration thing by turning the wheel etc. and i have tried to see what codes come up by turning the ignition on and off 3 times and I cant get either to work. any ideas to help me out ? Hey Crazy, after doing a reset to my transmission and speedo for the larger tires and 4.56 gears mine got stuck because one code couldn't clear and reset. Had to take it to the dealer where it wound up just needing to have the ABS reinitialized. The most frustrating things usually turn out to be the simplest to fix. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

In my case a reset of the steering angle sensor (SAS) did the trick. I had an airbag light on and needed to replace the clockspring in the steering wheel. As part of the process the shop reset the SAS. And now no more ESP activation around corners in town. Scar0 had posted this solution above, but here’s confirmation it works on more than one rig. |

It was nice driving around Philly today without the traction control going off all the time. I would say it’s at least 75%-85% better than it was. It didn’t completely get rid of ESP engagement on bumpy left turns, but I am more than satisfied with the improvement. Philly has a lot of potholes this winter! |

For me it was bumpy right hand turns that were causing problems. Now the only time it kicks on is when it needs to, I.E when I corner to fast pulling my boat trailer. But, Yesterday I was going up the mountain "racing" (If a 4x4 can race! lol) a Honda. Well trying to keep up with one in the corners. I'd say the right hand turns are still just a tad more sensitive then the left. ESP kicked on in 2 right turns during the "race", but 0 left turns. But to be totally honest, it was pretty close to kicking out when it did come on. 50 in a 35 corner is pretty fast for a lifted 4x4. Before my SAS was relearned, there was no way I could go around those corners like that. A 35 corner had to be taken at 30-35 Max. And even then it would still kick in. If there were any bumps at all in the corner 25 was the Max. One of these days I'll have to take a Vid of my drive up that road. It is a blast to run hard on. It was even more fun when I had my MG Midget. Ah, the good old days... |
