Right, but it kills power and slows you down. Sometimes you want the hammer down. :JEEPIN:

Giving this thread a bump just in case someone is interested in doing this Mod.
Almost 5 years later it still works as well as it did on day one.
Not sure why it wasn't moved to the KK Tech section.

Anyway, if you drive in sand this is a must have! It also works great in mud. In both those situations you do not want the wheel brake and throttle kill.

Hi Scar0,

This thread will remain bookmarked in the KK How-To's Index http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=104&t=80240 thread, regardless of where it resides. It is a very useful mod for anyone who regularly offroads in sand and mud.

I know this is an old thread, so hopefully somebody sees this. Last week I went offroading and took the fuse out before I went. Started the liberty up, and everything was fine. Abs light on and brake light on and traction control light on. I was able to play in the mud all day with no electronic nannies ruining the fun. I stopped for a while with the engine shut off and went back to restart the Jeep and it wouldn't start. It cranked and seemed to want to start, but wouldn't. It was really odd. I tried it about 5 or 6 times with no luck. I tried with the fuse in and out and it didn't make a difference at all. Let it sit for a few minutes and it fired back up normally. I can't see how removing the abs fuse would make this problem and I'm doubting that was what caused it, but it had never happened before and hasn't happened since. But now I am scared to take that fuse back out again. Any ideas, or has anybody else had anything weird happen with the fuse out?

I have never had an issue using this Mod at all in the last 5+ years.
What you described sounds like the "no start when warm" issue. Which is totally unrelated to this Mod.

Yeah that sounds about right. I know that correlation does not equal causation, but it was just weird that the only time it has happened was the one time that I had removed the fuse. I'll try it again and see what happens. It freaked me out a bit, because I really didn't feel like spending the night in the woods.

I hear you on that one. No one wants to be stranded in the woods...

I'm strongly considering this. I'm gonna see if recalibrating the SAS at the dealership solves my issue. Seems you are pretty happy with this mod? Any chance just unplugging and reconnecting the J6 fuse could reset the ESP and help with unwanted activation on road? My wheels are still locking up on my first left turn.

A dealer recalibration of the SAS did the trick for me. In my case it was a slow (25 Mph) bumpy right hand turn that always set off the ABS.

Just pulling the fuse will disable the ESP, BAS, and ABS. But it will not reset the SAS...

Yes I love it! works really well in the sand and mud.

Thanks for this great write-up. You said pulling the fuse will also disable all ...which fuse would this be exactly :)
I'm a bit of a KK noob w.r.t it's traction system. I went riding in some serious deep sand and although the Traction Control would sometimes do a good job of getting you out, it was often the culprit getting me bogged down. Just pulling a fuse for when i'm in the dunes again would be a great short term solution for me. Is there any negative effect other than being a pain to get out and do this every time?

Post 1, J6 ABS Pump fuse. Do not pull the J7 ABS Valve fuse!
Draw back to pulling the fuse; The obvious one is having to shut the rig off to remove it, and again to install it. Both pulling the fuse and using the "switch" will set DTC codes in the system a dealer can read.
With the fuse out, and you happen to get stuck in a mud hole, you will have to get wet to put it back in.

I have not seen any adverse effects from using the switch in my rig. It drives just like an old-school 4x4. Which I have experience driving for to many years to count.

This Mod is for off-road use only!
Do this at your own risk.
I take no responsibility for any modifications you decide to make to your ride, or the results of those modifications.
