So I am interested in lifting my 08 KK but have never lifted a vehicle before. After reading through a lot of posts I have noticed that OEM shocks only last around 30k miles. I currently am around 40k miles and am now curious as to what else may possibly needed to be replaced in the suspension. I was looking at only doing the Daystar lift and throwing some slightly larger tires on along with some spacers to pop the wheels out a little bit. Is this a bad idea or should I look into getting a whole new suspension? I don't want to spend too much money but still would like some extra clearance. Any help in what all I should look at getting with either a suspension lift and/or the Daystar lift are greatly appreciated!

A daystar lift is gonna make your suspension worse off then it already is. At least get aftermarket shocks and struts if you do it. A full suspension lift would be infinitely better but at th moment the JBA is the only one available and it is way out of the price range for many.

What brands do you recommend for aftermarket shocks/struts?

OME and bilstein are some of the best, how ever JBA is the only company making longer rear springs. The front half of the KK is just like a KJ, so any KJ lift will work fine

A great budget lift with less wear and tear is the Rock Krawler lift. It's lifts the from via the Strut Forks which has no effect on the stock from shocks as far as more/less travel. The rear used a spacer and it's recommended to get extended rear shocks. I have the RK lift and BDS rear shocks and I'm very happy with the lift and ride quality. I've off-roaded the hell out of it with no issues.

If you can do the install your self you could have the RK lift and rear shocks for less then $500

That sounds like the way I'll end up doing it as I don't have the $$ for the full suspension lift. I'm planning on replacing the shocks all around. Am I able to get shocks that are compatible with this lift now and do the lift later on down the road? I just had brand new tires put on it when I bought it so I'm waiting for them to wear down. Once they wear down then I'm planning on lifting it and replacing tires all around. But until then is it possible to just get the shocks that are capable of being used again for the lift?

ya, u can if you are planing on going from stock to a 2.5" be careful with those longer shock with stock lift. if u try to wheel it hard that way, u may crash the piston if u compress it too much

Best price you'll find by far unless bidding gets totally out of control.

What are the best shocks for the money with a Daystar 2.5" lift? Just trying to get an idea of how much $$ I need to save up. Thanks in advance for the help!

So what all am I going to need to buy? I've never lifted a vehicle before so I'm a newb. If I'm installing this Daystar kit, what additional parts should I replace. I know I need to shocks so that's why I'm doing the lift now. Any tips/advice? And, do I get standard shocks or shocks that are made for a lift?

You have a few options, you can either leave you front shock stock, or you can replace them with these F4-BE5-D916-H0

In the rear you need longer shocks: F4-BE5-6458-H6 .

It is suggested that you replace your a arms, but that is $400 than can wait till later...

Some are for and some are against it.

So I just ordered some new rear shocks today and was talking with the guy about the front end. This may be a dumb question but I'm gonna ask it, there are only struts on the front right? No shocks? What should I get to fix up the front end?

The front is strut(Coil over Shock). The spacer goes into the bottom of the assembly.

Technically, the front has a Shock since by definition a car that has struts doesn't have UCA's

From the OEM parts catalog:

SHOCK ABSORBER PACKAGE,
Suspension, Front

So the Monroe's struts aren't worth it?

Some companies market them as struts and some market them as shocks.... It just depends...

I don't have much experience with Monroe products
