There are a couple who have. A blue kk color matched his and I believe another member painted his white?

I've looked into two toning my next set and painting them black and adding red on the raised "gear" edges

I did mine about a month ago now, and no leaking issues at all. I found that when you put the housing back together, get a pair of channel locks to clamp the pieces back together at each of the tabs. I used a small piece of rubber roofing to prevent scratching. The first headlight I didn't use the channel locks, and it took a good 30 minutes and several bakes in the oven to get it back together. The second headlight took about 30 seconds using the channel locks.

Had a hell of a time separating one. Kinda got some minor heat marks on the plastic so ill probably be refinishing the lenses soon. But I am so happy with the difference. My buddy has a 3D priner so were going to make some brackets and mount two vertical led bars in the grille slots. Thanks for the DIY it was fun to do!

I have the exact same rig as you do and i have been doing a low-cost PlastiDip blackout of my '08 (4x4 and jeep logos and rims). Haven't been able to find a how-to guide on blacking out headlight assemblies until now, and yours looks stellar!!

Quick question though (and probably a stupid one, but I am a newb when it comes to this kind of stuff), do you have to remove the actual headlight bulb before you do all the baking?

Yes! When you remove the headlight housings you just unscrew the bulb from the back of the housing .

After discovering Lostjeeps.com and this DIY thread, it took me 2 days and a whole lot of confidence to put some shades on my beast. I LOVE IT.

To anyone who has blacked out blinkers as well.. would you say it is more or less difficult than the headlight process?

More difficult... The adhesive is a lot more solid and doesn't like to lift

A dremel might be a wiser choice......our K12 is 6 hp with 14" blade, but it can still be used.

Hey everyone So this is my 1st post here. Decided to take on this project today since I got let off of work early. Was on duty thanksgiving. Got as far as getting the lenses to paint out. Just like DetroitKK said baking at 300 degrees for 12 minutes. Was a little slow getting it but once I got in the grove it went fast. Got most of it after baking it another 5 minutes then finished it off with one more bake. For me getting the tabs out for the lens was pretty tough because of how much sealent theyd used to hold em down but got one side out. Starting the other now. I just realized though I only had one connector when I popped em out and No bulb where a highbeam should be... Just gonna paint that too no way to get it out. Anyone else run into this? Getting lenses out today and painting in the light tomorrow. Will post pics when its done!

EDIT:
Here is is completed and slapped on!

Thanks for the How To! It worked out great and I love the look. I went with a gloss black hoping it would better match my paint and I am not disappointed! I am a little nervous only because it seamed to go too smooth... I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed!
