Here are some good instructions on how to take the bumper off- the blinkers will be fastened to the bumper. I bet you can figure out how to detach them after you have it off the Jeep.

If you would like to know how just ask but its not exactly the same as doing the headlights.

Ok, I'll bite. How did you open the marker lights. Much cleaner than tinting them.

Saw them in person. They do look a lot better than tinted ones.

Hey I have a question did you ever decide to use a heat gun I got one and I wanna try it to use it instead of putting it in the oven it kinda makes me a little nervous to that. How did you get it so the other light didn't melt? And did you put a primer for the very first coat or was it just the black?

I never did it with a heat gun, you could try it, but I'm guessing it would take a really long time to get the whole seam evenly heated enough to remove the plastic lens. The key to no melting is just Reynolds wrap on a cookie sheet. That stuff is non conductive so it won't allow the cookie sheet to heat up the plastic touching the surface. I know the oven thing sounds scary, but once you get it in there you'l find its no big deal.

As far as the paint goes, I just sprayed the chrome part with flat black. No sanding, no primer. Its been a few months now and still looks great!

Thanks for the help...I'm defiantly going to try his over a weekend...thanks again for the help!! :JEEPIN:

I took mine apart with a heat gun. No muss no fuss took about 15 minutes on each light once i figured out how to take them apart.

Turn your gun on high lightly heat the tabs around the light to pry them off the notches then apply even heat round and around the edge of the light focusing the gun on the black backing. That process along with a flat head screw driver or putty knife will result in the desired effect :2cents:

Finished. Used Satin black with primer added spray paint. Thanks for the directions. I needed about 6 beers after taking them apart though.

^^Haha. I just did mine on Tuesday, and I was fine getting them apart, but good lord it was hard getting them back together! I used satin black paint. Came out really well.

I've cracked how to open up the blinkers (pun intended) though I didn't use a heat gun to take them apart.
I took a dremel with a cutting disc for plastic and took it around the edge ( on the edge where the black meets the lens is a small lip where the disc fits and cuts great.

Don't be too afraid of cutting into the black backing if you follow that lip all the way around they will separate pretty easily

The next post I put up tomorrow will be completed pics/howto

Has anyone tried taking apart the tailights and painting them? Ive done the headlights and turn signals and was wanting to try the tail lights. I put them in the oven and tried prying and the seal seems to be a lot like the turn signal but a hell of a lot harder to take apart. Any hints, tips or advice? Thanks!

For those concerned about melting, try 250 degrees Fahrenheit for 15min. That's what I used and it worked great. I also have a gas oven so I don't have to worry about getting too close to the heater elements.
