What kind of MPG and Speedometer difference can I expect with General Grabber AT2's (235/70R16) as compared to the stock Good Years (225/75r16). Comparing them on Tire rack: ..................AT2.....GY Weight.........32lbs....27lbs Diameter.......29.2"....29.3" (but I see 29.1 is supposedly stock?) Rev per Mile...714.......708 I see other posts dropping 1-2 highway 2-3 city but they were I think 245/70 or 75 (can't remember exactly). And for speedo? The local PD is a stickler in those 30mph area's. Tire rack links: Good year General at2 Thanks!

Cant help with what you want but im running 35s on my deisel superduty and my son is running them on his 03 libby he has 265/70/16 and im running 30inch on my 01 Wrangler snow plow truck. All General grabber at2. I think they are a awsome tire. When my wifes winter Toyos are done on her Suburban I will look for grabbers for her. In the summer she runs 22s wraped in Hankooks and are a excellent wet and dry pavement tire.

Mimimal drop in performance going from the stock GY ST's 225's to the General 235's as far as mpg and revs. MPG is generally not the highest priority with this vehicle. I do understand the need to know the speedo "adjustment" as I live in a strict and enforced area. Whatever you decide to replace the stock tires with, do it as soon as you are able. The ST's are not the highest quality tire and I believe last or next to last on Tirerack's survey section. That's where I'd rate them as well based on my own experience. I've been happy with my Cooper AT's so far. Good luck.

Thanks. I'm not really worried about the MPG so much, I was driving an '86 Chrysler fifth ave before this so I'm used to not so great mpg, just curious what to expect. The speedo is the real concern. Anyone running this size on stock rims out there? Thanks

i would say definitely minimal change in performance and mileage. wasnt that a stock size available? so you could potentially get the speedo recalibrated, not that it would be off by much but it would help keep the esp from kicking in unnecessarily.

Yeah, that was an optional stock size. Why would the ESP kick in?

We replaced the 225/75 Crapyears and went to 245/70 Coopers with no real effect. Well, I don't notice any cause I don't drive it, it's my wife's DD.

DirtyKK got me thinking about the esp. Using a tire size calculator (http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html) and got this... Tire Size Comparison Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference 225/75-16 6.6in 14.6in 29.3in 92.0in 689 0.0% 235/70-16 6.5in 14.5in 29.0in 91.0in 697 -1.1% Is it correct that if the change is under a 2-3% difference i should be fine? And above would mean that my speedo would be off by 1.1%, meaning if speedo shows 100MPH, i'd actually be going about 99? Thanks.

Yep. You got it. My speedo was off more than that when it was new. It has always read 3 MPH off (with stock 225/75-16 tires). Dealer said they could replace whole instrument cluster, but no promises that it would fix the issue. So I just said forget it and started modding, bumping tire size and lift up, up, and away!

well in my standard im at 2000rpm at 100km with 255/70r16 so it was nice to lower the rpm a little down the hwy. i have not taked to my dealer but i know when i changed my tires on my 02 dakota all i had to do is grab the scanner and type in the new revs pr mile. all phone and ask tomoro

I run 235/70/16 winter tires on stock rims from a 2005 KJ. I do notice a little drop in speed for similar rpms, but it's negligible. I am getting rid of my 225 75 Goodyears this week for a set of 235 70 LTX MS2 on the OEM wheels. I will let you know how these work.

i've got 265/70/16's and my speedo is off by about 3 mph, i just use my Jeep GPS that i got on ebay for $48 and it tells me how fast i'm going as far as what the po-po's would clock me at. (as far as i know) what i hate is that my odom is off by about a tenth of a mile.

My friend had those tires and recently switched over to D*ck cepek mud country's. He loved the Grabbers. but his gas milage was crappy. his were 31" tires but all-terrain tires tend to have worse gas mileage then reg road tires bc they weigh more and the tread pattern, plus the size all take into effect with your mileage.

No Pics, Didn't Happen Finally found my camera after taking a few pics a while ago. I must have thrown it in a tool bag and totally forgot (at least that's where i found it). I was a day or two away from going out and getting another so I had one for the holidays. I never would have lived down losing it after "taking a stupid picture of tires." Glad I found it.
