I back my jeep into my garage and we have a driveway on a hill. When backing up into the garage sometimes the jeep will shudder at about 1200 or 1300rpm. My 02 never did this and i am wondering if this is normal or not?? I can't say i'm seeing any other shifting issues going down the road.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the 42RLE trans and it's terrible gear ratio's.Better gear ratio's in your old '02's 45RFE trans was why it never shuddered going in reverse uphill.

45RFE's reverse is 3:1 and the 42RLE's reverse is 2.21:1,major difference.

Ok, I wondered if that wasn't the case. Thanks to jeep for the minivan transmission...

Which is why my friends 05 minivan does the same thing and I had to explain the whole reason behind it to them before they sent it off to the shop. But yeah sucks that they went with the 42RLE my 04 does it on occasion as well.
