Does anyone know for sure what function the small round ambient light sensor in the center of the dash serves? I just noticed that photos of a '10 KK has one but my '08 Sport does not?

Also, do the headlights flash when opening the door locks by remote during the daytime on the newer KK's?

I have the 2008 limited
If I turn my lights to AUTO, then that sensor is used to turn the light on...

on the facotry 2008 you can have the lights turn on when you disarm the alarm. set it for 10 sec tgo 90 seconds.
We have the full evic computer thingy, and I use it to change setting for most of the car and alarm stuff....

I rather have the lights on when ever the motor is running.
Even if that means replacing light bulds more often, to me it is safer..

Right, that sensor is used to turn the headlights on and off, automagically. The headlights don't flash when the lock/unlock is used for keyless entry, but the turn signals do. If your KK is not doing this, you can program it to do so. The instructions are in the owners manual... somewhere.

I think it's for the Limited's only.

2010 Sports (with Popular Equipment Group) got them too. And standard on Renegade. Not sure about other model years.

My 2009 base model has the sensor. (the one in the center of the windshield between the defroster vents right?)

Not entirely correct sir.

My 2008 Ltd. has auto headlamps.

I *believe* it was part of the "popular equipment" package, now in 2011 it's standard.
