Hello everyone, been a while, been very busy lately..

I am looking to get some HIDs for the KK before Christmas (driving from ABQ to Houston) and had a couple questions on those of you with HID setups.

I am going with DDM tuning HID kits, not sure if ill go with the standard ones (25$) or the slim ones (35$) yet, but I have a couple minor questions..

I will be getting HIDs in both the fog lights and the headlights.

For the fog lights, my search's yield a 9145 bulb, but I also found that H10 and 9145 are one in the same as far as hookup (true or false?) So that would mean I should order the H10s from ddm?

For the headlights, I doubt I would ever need the high beams again with HIDs in both fog and headlight, but was unsure if using a standard H13 in a system meant for hi/lo would cause any problems.. I just wouldn't want to spend the extra 20$ on the hi/lo H13s if it will be sure not to cause problems getting a regular H13 setup for the headlights..

I don't have any experience with the low beams in a KK but in a different Jeep, I still needed my high beams on many occasions. Just FYI.

I do know someone with a High/Low setup in a KK, also from DDM, he hasn't had any issues with the HIDs causing issues with the remainder of the stock system if that's what you were questioning.

I don't understand why everyone thinks they don't need high beams - you do. Especially if you are out on mountain highways and want to be able to see wildlife on the road.

Sure, if you never leave the city, then I can see that they would be pointless, but then what are you driving a Jeep if you don't take it out of city limits?

I have HIDs for both fogs and headlights, and I have bi-xenon, and I LOVE them.

Now, because I have a Canadian Libby, with these fricking PITA daytime running lights that cannot be disabled, they cause the lights to flicker when not switched on. However, that is a different story and shouldn't be a problem with an american liberty.

Also, don't bother with anything over 6000k light temp. I've had 4300, 6000, and 8000. Anything over 6000 is too blue, and you actually start to lose visibility even though they are 'brighter'. Also, they are like waving a big "pull me over now" flag. 6000 seems to be the best for actually increasing overall visibility.

I recently installed bi-xenons and fogs. The things are at least 3 to 4 times brighter than the stock headlights (5000K) and the way they light up the sides of the road are unbelieveable. I understand people saying you don't need high beams because the xenon lows are brighter than the factory halogen highs, but I just like something to happen when I push the stalk forward.

The truth is that my bi-xenons do raise the beam pattern up but the bulb is not any brighter. I can see somewhat farther down the road but its no where near the difference you get between high and low on conventional halogen bulbs.

Still, I got the bi-xenons just because I can't stand for things not to work and I like having high and low even if there is not much difference between them.

I have sylvania silverstar headlights and nokia fogs. My low beams with fogs provide way better lighting then the high beams, maybe if I could have highs and fogs. The high beams travel a long way but they seem dimmer and I strain my eyes more trying to see using high beams.

If you're getting hids stay with anything below 6k as previously suggested.

Agreed! Having just the highs leaves a noticeable dark spot in front of the vehicle. Having the highs and fogs on at the same time would be legendary.

I wish someone smarter than myself could figure out how to do this without some cumbersome workaround - obviously I want to keep my factory fog indicator and switch working as normal.

And true, the difference between HID high and low and Halogen high and low is not as distinct. However, I re-aimed by HIDs lower, and this made a major difference (the highs aren't pointing out into space.

One other big reason to get bi-xenon is that when someone flashes you because your lights are so bright (doesn't happen all that often, but it happens), you can hit-em back with double brightness. :dizzy:
