Thanks all for the feedback, public and private, on my KK Off-Road Bumpers and Rock Sliders. In total so far, it has been about 14 months to date in the making since I started preliminary design and component research since there haven't been any options for KK Off-Road Bumpers. It has been more than 9+ months without my KK (except for occassional weekend visits back to my house for design iteration and test-fitups) as it has been at the couple street rod shops I worked witih.

I certainly wouldn't have made it with what's left of my sanity without the patient support of my #1 helpler, my dad, who helped me install, test-fit, remove, refit, mock-up, etc. the many developmental iterations of the bumpers throughout the 9 months. He also was patient with my prolific photo and note taking during each of the iterative test installs during development. I also need to thank my best friend and extended family for on-going interest, encouragement and actual help installing the final painted bumpers. Also need to thank a couple LOST peeps (that know who they are) that helped me in various ways through being a sounding board and/or helping research some of the components I was trying to find along the way.

Thanks to all Image Image Image Image Image

Have you had the chance to total the weight for each bumper? I have a feeling that those bad boys are heavy.
You know me Rhett, I've tracked and accumulated all types of detailed and/or quantified information throughout this process. Thanks for asking, as its a good question that I'm sure multiple people are curious about. Obviously, no matter what, switching from OEM plastic to steel is gonna add weight  , so here's the low-down....

MtnLuvr's Heavy Duty KK Off-Road Front Winch Bumper:
114 lbs for Heavy Duty Off-Road Front Winch Bumper, including all tow hooks, brackets, fasteners and hardware
    - 36 lbs for OEM front bumper (less lower air dam strip removed long ago), including both OEM front tow hooks
78 lbs approximate net weight change (bumper only)

Optional Heavy Duty Radiator and Power Steering Skid Plate another 28 lbs (versus OEM radiator skid at 10 lbs)
Optional Grille Guard from 11 lbs (Stinger-Style) to 15 lbs (for Full-Width Brush Guard style).

So, as seen on my KK with my radiator skid plate and brush guard, I net added about 115 lbs (including powder coating allowance of 4 lbs) to the front of my KK before installation of my winch. Winches can add another 65 to 90 lbs depending upon the winch size, manufacturer, synthetic or steel rope, etc.

MtnLuvr's Heavy Duty KK Off-Road Basic Rear Bumper:
152 lbs for Heavy Duty Off-Road Basic Rear, including brackets, D-Ring shackle tabs, rear tow receiver, Jeep scuff plate, tow plug, fasteners and hardware
    - 14 lbs for OEM rear bumper assembly
    - 36 lbs for OEM bumper tow hitch assembly
102 lbs approximate net weight change

So, I net added about 108 lbs (including powder coating allowance of 6 lbs) to the rear of my KK due to my Heavy Duty Off-Road Rear Bumper.

MtnLuvr's Heavy Duty KK Rock Rail Sliders:

So, I net added about 18 lbs to the middle of my KK due to my Heavy Duty Rock Rail Sliders.

Thanks for the feedback. As for sale prices, I recommend you check out page 1 of this thread since it discusses plan for pricing as well as design features.

also, here's previous replies regarding sale pricing:

Jeepin_it_real wrote:
I'm sure you've been asked this before but what the hell.... what do you estimate the cost for the front will be? and for the rear?
I'm not gonna throw out a guess for pricing. As I mentioned in my first post in this thread, I won't know sell prices until I know costs to have batches built. I won't know batch costs until, 1) I'm done with fine tuning all the part details to have some repeatability and to minimize welding assembly labor and, 2) until I can get a feel of the interest on-line as my cost per unit, and thus the sell price per unit, would be lower if I have 10 made than if I have 5 made in a batch. This is due to the old "economies of scale" where the setup costs for making the pre-made parts and the welded assembly would all get distributed over a larger quantity thus lowering the cost per unit for larger quantities. If I had 20 made in the first batch production run, they'd be even more economical per unit than if I had 10 made. Not the answer in terms of dollar amounts you were hoping for, but I hope that made sense.

You should remove the exhaust resonator. sounds a bit better with it off.
great pics post more
As I mentioned in my first post, I won't know pricing until I get competitive quotes to fabricate batches of the products (rock sliders or bumpers) and my cost per unit to have fabricated in batches will determine the sell price I need to cover all costs to make it worth the hassles. The greater the quantity I have fabricated in a batch, the lower the cost, and thus sell price, will be per unit. I'm going to determine quantity to fabricate in a batch based upon on-line interest....

there is that too.
Although there are some additional challenges not being someone building these out in their own garage or shop, one of the benefits of my plan is that I'll be having my KK bumpers and rock sliders made in batches by professional custom fabricators. To get some benefit from economies of scale, I'll need to have them made in batches. Thus, the benefit to everyone else who wants to buy my KK armoring is that my sell price is based upon my costs so I won't be selling anything until units are made. Thus, we won't be taking anyone's money until we know we've got KK products to ship. So, no one should have to wait multiple months or years to get the aftermarket products they've paid for...

Hope this helps.

Since I'm in posting mode, here's some stats on my KK's height after initial installation of JBA's 4" Adjust-A-Strut Lift Kit. All dimensions taken while parked in my garage on a flat, level surface even though photos taken elsewhere.
Image

Keep in mind after suspension replacement lifts, there is typically some settling which occurs mostly over the first couple weeks to month or so.

Image
Fronts from center of wheel upward to lower edge of front fender flare = ~21.5"
Rears from center of wheel upward to lower edge of rear fender flare = ~23.75" (starting with 2 isolators top and bottom to see how the back settles out), also installed an extra spring isolator on the driver's side since the driver's side of KKs are always lower than the passenger's side.

At this height setup, it yields approximately 12" clear below the bottom of the driver's side front of the OEM engine skid plate and more than 11-1/4" clear below the driver's side rear of the OEM engine skid plate (with my GY 245/75R16 MT/R tires).
Image

As for front CV angles, the above front heights yield about 10 degrees with the vehicle parked flat (e.g. no IFS extension):

I am definitely interested in the front and rear bumpers and the rock sliders.

I'd also be interested in hearing you feedback on the 4" JBA lift, mostly on if you have any premature part wear.

Thanks for keeping us up to date.

Hey MtnLuvr, I love the front and rear bars and what you have done. Fantastic work. We still haven't had any luck with convincing ARB to pull their finger out over here in Australia and they have told me that they will be basing their decision on the demand in the US market and to not give up hope. We have both Safari and Airflow looking at releasing their snorkels so we will keep you informed on those.

So what is the likelihood of getting your bars over to Australia or sing your design under license through a fabricator here? Would love to hear your thoughts as I have seen how I want my KK to look. Did you have to get the front bar to comply with anything to do with the airbags ( We need them compliant here in Australia )?

Super quick update....

630 mile 1-day road trip last weekend. JBA 4" AaS lift and KK off-road armor didn't have any issues. Still a few small noises with the lift in certain situations I'll be tracking down.

My front bumper beta tester has his bumper installed. Thanks Digger for your patience and support. For a couple days a couple weekends ago, my garage was KK upgrade heaven....
Image

A couple sweet looking KKs:
Image

Plus, it gave us a chance to have to eat some wonderful, world-renowned Kansas City BBQ (ribs). Digger, did any of those 2 slabs of ribs you said you were "taking back to Colorado to your dad" make it?

Past few evenings, I've got the EVAP canister relocation mount designed and verified with mock-up. I'll be emailing CAD files to my sheet metal shop tomorrow to get the parts computer-cut, formed and then tacked together so hopefully in the next few weeks (depending upon their workload and other considerations), I can final fit this mod to help capitalize on notably increased rear wheel path clearance and to better protect the KK's EVAP canister (which now hangs down lower than my Heavy Duty Basic Rear Bumper on the driver's side).

Plan on attacking a few items on the KK this weekend before next quickie road trip.

Gotta go...I'll plan to address previous posted questions hopefully this weekend.

Thanks ya'll. :JEEPIN:
