I flat blacked my grille so i want to flat black the jeep emblems to make everything match. What do you guys recommend on how to do that? I could take them off and buy new ones but the only problem is the Jeep one on the back thats a part of the piece that has the button to open the glass window. Anyone have ideas how to get them off or any other ways to get them black?

You can take off the back one, its just on there with 3M tape.

Take some fishing line and slowly work it back and forth underneath the emblems (sort of sawing it off) until you go through it.

Thanks and you think I should buy new ones or try to get old ones to stick somehow?

Thanks, the only thing is that they dont sell the back letters separately from the piece so I'm gunna have to figure out how to get it to stick again. Any ideas?

Just use the indoor/outdoor 3m mounting tape. I've seen people do it with other vehicles and it sticks fine (although everytime you take them off you run the risk of chipping paint off). Definitely use a heat gun/blow dryer if you have one available and warm the area up a bit so it comes off easier.

You could probably find it on a bunch of different car/truck enthusiast forums but this is where I first read about it:

It is very simple, I always d-badge my vehicles. Step one use the fish line as someone mentioned, remove letter by going from one edge in a saw motion, then take the glue tape off from the back of the letters it can be some what of a pain. After taking all of mine out, I noticed that the rear JEEP letters on the black part once you remove them the black plastic has the spelling JEEP on it so the 3m sticks better, well in my case leaving the words out looked weird so I went ahead got some Flat black that I had laying around, spray painted it, and got some 3m double side tape for decals, you can find it on any auto store. It is now a year and no fade, chips on paint, and more important all letters are still there.

Looks good! Did you end up using the guide that I had posted? I may do something like this later this summer, possibly just de-badge completely.

I actually did things a little differently than what the guy did to his tacoma. I have a friend who does a lot of this stuff so I took some tips from him. Yea de-badge will definitely look good too, I'll probably end up doing that later on because theres already a chip in the front one.
