Ok, so we have all read the stickied thread by tjkj2002, but this almost never gets brought up. How many of you with lifted kks have successfully been able to get rid that annoying esp kicking in left hand turns. After I lifted mine and went to the alignment shop six months ago they had no idea what i was talking about, but had it aligned anyway and no problems occured with the esp. Its when i got the bigger tires the esp started going off mostly on left turns and its starting to really piss me off. Where did everyone go to have this service done and do i just ask to have the steering angle sensors reset? Is it just the price of the alignment? |

I've not noticed it. Either during the couple days I've been driving my KK with the JBA 4" lift and the 1.5 years I had my JBA 2" lift (both with my MT/Rs) |

Same here. I lifted mine and put bigger tires on it, then aligned it. Still have the issue every now and again. I am not sure if it can really be corrected. I think the main problem is that when you reprogram the tire size in the ABS module, there are only a few set stock tire sizes. No other sizes can be programmed for. In my case, I went with 245/75R16 tires. These were not in the list. So, when cornering, the ABS module is seeing a different than expected wheel speed, because it is programmed for another tire size, and the ESP kicks in to try and correct it. I have went in with the Star Scan and recalibrated my steering angle sensor, performed 2 alignment to make absolutely sure everything was correct, and the problem is still there. The tire size that was closest to mine in the stock list was a 245/70R16, so that is what I reprogrammed the ABS module to show, My speedometer is approx. 2 mph off. |

I think I read in other post that it happens when you make left turns. I spoke to a guy that works on european cars. most of them have traction control programs. And when the tire dont match what the car is programed for it happens. Just like Idaho08KK says. He says he is willing to put my lift on for cheap when I get one. ![]() |

I had that problem too... pulled the abs fuse, problem fixed ![]() I think it has something to do with the bigger tires having too much sidewall flex and when you make a turn the jeep turns a little bit less than what esp expect and try to correct it with the abs brakes. I dont think theres a solution other than having perfect alignment to help a bit or kill esp like i did |

Yeah, when i was at the peak of my issues and not wanting to go to the stealership... I pulled the ABS fuse. No problems, just be careful if yah slam the brakes. (They can lock up now) |

I just installed my JBA 2.5 lift and had dealer do an alignment. They claim to adjust SAS steering angle sensor. I have not noticed a difference in esp operation. |

I dont think theres a solution other than having perfect alignment to help a bit or kill esp like i did I've had the j6 fuse pulled for a couple days at a time. Yeah it was great, but not exactly street legal. Thinking about rigging the real on/off switch for it, which probably isnt legal either but at least i can turn it back on for highway driving. (which is like once a month) ![]() |
