I have a 2010 KK with command track 4wd. According to the manual,"preferred" shift metod to 4 low is at a slow roll speed in neutral. Also states that you will hear some "normal" gear noise.Mine makes some very loud gear noise when shifted this way,and no noise when shifted at a stand still. Is the rolling shift really better?

I've never had a problem either way

I always do it at a full stop. No problems.

Just make sure your foot is off the brake.

Me to. I do it for the sole purpose of avoiding any shock load failure/damage...

Thanks for the replys.Ya it seems to me it would be a whole lot less stress on the gears, even if they're off a little when you pull forward from a dead stop.

I am wondering you should check or change out your fluids for the transfer case and tranny, just incase?

If you are the type of person who can do it your self, then itis a no brainer.

If you need to take it to a shop or dealer, maybe thing twice...
They charge allot.. for a simple service at times.

I would hope it doesn't need changed. I only have 15,000 miles on it.The only 4 wheelin I've done has been a little in snow and thru some wet fields while hunting.i haven't actually used 4 low,I just "exercise" it once in a while.

IIRC, it's a 30K oil change interval.

Personally, I do mine every 15K since I use it quite often. I look at it as cheap insurance....
