Received all my paper work in the mail from the dealer yesterday. Marched down to the DMV to register, license and pay the taxes on the 2011 Liberty. Got home and took a look at the front bumper...there ain't no license plate mounting bracket. Should there be, or is it a matter of simply getting to course threaded short screws and mounting them flat to the painted bumper. Which just don't seem right. Guess I could use 3M double stick tape and for go the holes in the painted bumper. Anyone else come up with a creative plan. Don't be shy, help me out here. Pictures appreciated. Thanks Big Jon |

I think my (as I like to call it) stupid front plate is screwed into the bumper. I would think there would be dimples in the bumper or something to indicate where they go. |

when i got mine from the dealer they had just screwed a dealer tag on the front. i was pissed actually cause i sure as hell wasnt advertising for them and removed the plate and was left with two random screw holes. stupid cause florida doesnt require a front plate and it actually cost more if you do want one.

Texas is one of those "gotta have a front and rear plate" states. The bumper does have two small dimples. But the material that the bumper is made of sure fills thin, plus I am not to crazy about the plate rubbing direct against the paint. I guess the back side of the bumper sits flush against a styrofoam filler? |

i went to Walmart and got one of those adapter brackets, it had to be screwed on also but is more firm than a plate that could flap around in the breeze. it had a clear cover for it too but that eventually cracked so i just have the plate on the bracket now but it looks better!! |

Ended up with this as a plan. The dealer had one of those thin plastic dealer logo license plate tags on the rear. I took it and turned it around so the logo would be against the front bumper. Lined it up and screwed it to the front bumper. Removed it and put double stick commerical grade 3M tape on the back and stuck it to the front bumper after aligning the screw mounting holds. Then laid the Texas license plate against the dealer plastic plate and screwed it in place covering the screws with black plastic painted button covers over the screws. Now no exposed screws and the metal license plate won't rub against the paint on the front bumper. It has never taken me this long just to mount a front license plate. Next thing I did was to debadge the dealer sticker off of the rear bumper. |
