Post subject:  Tire Size for Stock KK?

Hey KK Crew!

I'd like to get rid of my stock tires eventually and want to know how big of a tire I can get with no rubbing...? I'd prefer to get a suspension lift so i have more aggressive options, but I drive this daily 20 miles to and from work with minimal off-roading at the current time.

Any suggestions for max tires size for stock KK (2010 Limited)? Any particular agressive all-terrain tires out there anyone recommends?

I would also like to know. I keep getting different sizes, but generally 245/70 16 seems to be the most common answer.

I'm currently looking for a good all terrain tire (college commute of about 70miles round trip 5 days a week, yet can handle some off road abuse). I was looking into the Hankook DynaPro ATM 245/70 16. I heard pretty good things from 1 or 2 people, all the reviews are good from people with different trucks. I have time, I wanna wear the stock tires down a bit, find a job, and save the money for rims and tires. In the mean time I'm gonna keep my eyes and ears open on different tires and more reviews.

Heres a link to some of the reviews I was looking at. It's off of discount tires.

I was looking at the BFG Mud-Terrain km2 and it comes in 235/70R16. Which is a stock tire size, but the BFG website said that they don't have this tire that will fit a KK. Why wouldn't it, if it's the factory tire specs?

because the folks that work for BFG do dumb things sometimes. Like how they let me order a a set of 285s, pay for them to be frieghted and everything, just to get a phone call on my expected delievery date to tell me that they no longer made that particular style in the size i ordered

My 2011 sport came with 225/75-16. Its base, just has a skyslider so that might be why. Its basically the same size though.

My limited came with 245/70/17 on it. Could I fit 265/70/17 without a lift? I'm thinking no, but I found a good deal on some Nitto Terra Grapplers for sale so I figured I'd check.

thats a no on the 265's, you'd need some lift and pinch weld mod. I run 245/70/16 on my non lifted libby and it does great NO RUB.

Post subject:  KK Cherokee running 255/55R18 Re: Tire Size for Stock KK?

Years on, but adding to this body of knowledge. I have an Australia Jeep KK (Cherokee) Limited. I have currently ran Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus M/S 255/55R18 for the last 40000km with no issues or rubbing on stock 18" rims and ride height. Very good road tire, quiet and loads of cornering grip. Nice off-road tire in rock, gravel, dirt, but my lack of dropping tire pressure and the stock low slung ride got me stuck to the frame in sand :)

I recently bought a 4x4 offroad camper trailer that weighs ~1000kg and it tows very nicely behind. BUT with the added trailer tongue weight, rooftop rack and frid in the back I've noticed I can't stand on the rear tires because of the sag! (without the trailer on my boots comfortably fit on top of the tires to load the rooftop Rola rack).

So I came across this post looking for what tires and sizes I could fit if I beef up the suspension and most likely lift the KK a tad, with heavier constant load springs in back and possibly air bag set up.

Will troll the site a bit more and pick up tidbits, but if anyone has done this and wants to share stories, please do!
