So I was wondering if anybody had info on our KK's about front and rear lockers? I wanted to see if anyone has installed lockers on their KK and how they did it...whether they used an air locker or some other method. I am thinking about installing the ARB air lockers and using the larger compressor for airing down the tires as well. If anyone has how-to's and pictures that would be great! :pepper:

Talk to Josh at Crawlertech,he'll set you up.

http://www.crawlertech4x4.com/

Unless you've installed ARB's before they should be left to trained techs that have, alot can be screwed up.

Someone told me that it's not a good idea to put a locker on the front of a KK Liberty because it's made of aluminum and won't hold up. Can anyone confirm or deny that. Thanks

Yes it's aluminum but your D30M has been beefed up in the area where the KJ's D30A was weak and would fail and almost always when fully open(no LSD or locker).Adding a locker will drasticaly reduce the chances of the diff cracking from how the KJ's D30A's alloy diffs would explode, only one confirmed D30A in a KJ blowing apart with a LSD(the DTT),non with a ARB.

Yes,

I will deny it.

First of all, a steel cased diff is better for sure. That being said, what can really kill a front diff off road (not just the Dana 30A) is wild tire spin in the air, suddenly touching down. Its like the irresistible force meeting the immovable object and the planetary carrier blows apart when the case flexes. Stop and think for a minute; a locker will prevent that wheel spin from happening and really act to protect the front diff. I have an Aussie Locker in the front of my KJ, (which has a weaker Al Dana than your KK) and it has been off road uncountable times and with heavy loads. Also, the Jeep has 250,000 miles on it with the locker in the past 40,000. Nothing has broken up front yet except a CV joint.

Just curious... will having a locker (front or rear) mess with the electronic traction control?

So I'm new to the world of lockers. Is ARB the way to go? I'm looking to have a locker in the rear by next summer so I can go out with the local clubs. :JEEPIN: I want to put a locker in the front eventually too, but probably not at the same time.
