Post subject:  JBA 2.5in lift questions

So after wheeling for the first time this weekend, I can already tell I will need and want a lift. From everything I've read on the forums, it seems most people are running 2 to 2 and a half inches. Since this seems like the most cost effective route and my current needs don't really seem like 4inches would be necessary, I'm wondering what all is recommended as an optimal build for the lift. Looking at the build your own lift kit - http://jeepinbyal.com/prod-2_5__Lift_Sp ... K-609.aspx
I would definitely be going for the added UCA's and addt'l rear springs. But should I worry about the nitro gas shocks vs the hydro shocks? I'm not really sure on the difference. As well, do I need quick disconnects? Also wondering if I'll need to extend bump stops and a host of other things I'm really just unsure of. The only other concern I would have is say after finally getting steel bumpers and other weight adding accessories, I'm sure the need will be there to go up to 4 inches of lift. Can the 2.5inch adjust a strut from JBA support 4inches with maybe a spring replacement, or would this be a case of having to basically re-buy the struts in addition to new rear shocks / springs, track bar, etc?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Lots of difference between a 4 inch and 2.5 inch not just a couple of items
If you think you want 4 inches down the road go 4 now and be done
and yes you'll want bump stops etc
If you plan on aftermarket bumpers either will work, you can adjust the 2.5 inch up to carry the extra weight but you wont turn it into a 4 inch lift it will only give you 2.5 no matter what

Ahh, ok, that makes more sense on the adjust portion in the name. So I guess if my eventual plan is to hit 4 inches, might as well just save up. Do you happen to know if all that's included in the JBA 4in kit would be what I need, or should I plan for other expenses for the lift, outside of tires and wheels. Looks like it's got the front adjust a strut, uca's, rear shocks, springs, track bar, extended brake lines and bump stops for the front and rear. Just wanting to learn as much as I possibly can before I even think about attempting this.

If I had to lift my jeep again I would skip the JBA 4.5" and get OME springs and Bilstein shocks. I would have saved thousands over the last two years in mods.

So go with the OME over JBA.

Really? I've heard good things about both. Can you tell me why if you don't mind? I definitely have had reservations on the cost of doing up the jba 4in kit. But I'm totally interested in hearing any and all experiences. If you don't want to say in public, definitely send me a pm. Just trying to learn from people who've already gone down the lift kit paths.
