I've read that going over 3in in lift will cause serious drive train problems..How true is this?

Will 3.25in make a major affect like shortening the drive train life?

That's what I've always been told also. I've heard it stresses the cv joints pretty bad but I'm sure someone else will chime in with more experience.

I hope to get to play with a KK here soon to see what all happens
Front suspension is a lot like the KJ but some differences I want to look at
On KJs if you do it right you can do over that

going over 3 inches leads to strain on the parts, steering will fail sooner, so will the life of the cv boots. tie rod ends etc. it's part of the hobby, you can beef one thing up but with it comes bigger expenses, with out lifts after a certain height your going to need a longer driveshaft and on the KJ 6 inch kit long rear control arms. with a bigger lift you want bigger wheels, well those bigger wheels carry more weight and stress the drivetrain so then you need to regear, if you regear you might as well put lockers in if you intend on wheeling.

4 inches is a good number for longevity of the CV's. Others will say that they haven't had any problems over 4 inches, but that seems to be a good amount for my KK..
