I was able to find most of the steel for free. It was salvaged from an old water tank. If you bought a 20' x 6" x 3/16" (most of what you need) from a steel yard it shouldn't be more than $100.
Other things are needed though. You could cut it with an angle grinder, but i suggest the freud steel demon blade and a cheap circ saw. Shackle tabs, like 4 lbs of welding wire, flap discs, wheels, lots of time, etc.

How are you going to mount it to the KK?

The third pic down shows the 2" angle, the holes match the tow hook holes on the frame. I'm going to make a plate that slides into the frame holes w nuts welded to them. I'm doing an extra bolt per side too. I might have 2 more that tie into the crossmember too.

I think I'd have a couple more places tie in as well,
if you look at say the ARB and the way they mount theirs its a good solid strong mounting system, almost overkill but it will never be pulled off

I like overkill.. Do you have any pics of the ARB's mounting system?

Here it is all finished. I'm not totally satisfied with the Rusto hammered paint as i thought it would hide blemishes more than it did. This summer i'll take it off and smooth out my grinder mistakes and probably use a different finish.
Here's one pic, i'll take more tomorrow.

How long can you bask in the glory of your accomplishment before you need to make a matching bumper for the rear? :D

Again, awesome job. An accomplishment worth celebrating!

Haha i don't know if i'll be doing a rear bumper anytime soon. That rear crossmember looks tough to work around too. Maybe sliders first, but i need try and keep the extra weight down since its my dd.

Fabulous! Can you give a shot or two of the underneath where the cooler is. How did you protect that area? Again, pat yourself on the back for me for a job well done. 8)
