| Post subject: | KK custom Front Hitch |
Hello everyone, Im looking to create a front hitch from my new 08 what i am wondering is if i can take the tow hook brackets remove the hooks and weld a piece of receiver tube to them thus creating a dual front hitch. These would only be used to carry a front fishing rod rack usually weighing less then 100 lbs. my questions are: has any one ever tried this? do you think that the welds will be strong enough to support this weight? Can these be used as a recovery point if necessary? thanks |

Why cut up the tow hooks? Been several things done to the KJs that would work wth the KK most use two hitches, turned on their sides for two points on front, bolted back into the frame lots of ideas search is you friend |

I would just buy a front hitch. Seems like a lot of work to save $10. Dave |

Check out http://www.detoursusa.com/kjbackbone.php, I think it is dirtyKK that has one of these.... The instructions show where they mount up the backbone and recovery points. Might give you some ideas as to where to mount custom dual receivers? |

Dual receiver..... Is your goal to have two square tubes sticking out the front? If that's the case, go to harbor freight, buy a couple receiver tubes, then weld a piece of 1/4" plate to it (to run bolts through) then bolt them through the tow hook holes. Cut square holes in your plastic bumper and you're good. |

you need this http://www.curtmfg.com/index.cfm?event=hitch.search plus the adapter http://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and ... l?feed=npn hitch is rated for 3000 and 300 tongue. the adapter has a 10000/400 tongue rating don't forget you'll need extra pins for the adapter too. i'd get locking ones so no one steals it if you decide you want the hitch, i sell them. i can drop ship to you |
