Power can not be found at the dash for the back you lights. Here is how the back up light switch system works:

Vehicles with an optional electronic automatic transmission have a Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) that is used to perform several functions, including that of the backup lamp switch

DESCRIPTION

The Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) (2) is mounted to the top of the valve body inside the transmission and can only be serviced by removing the valve body assembly. The electrical connector extends through the transmission case.

The Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) has four switch contacts that monitor shift lever position and send the information to the PCM.

OPERATION

The Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) communicates shift lever position (SLP) to the TCM as a combination of open and closed switches. Each shift lever position has an assigned combination of switch states (open/closed) that the TCM receives from four sense circuits. The TCM interprets this information and determines the appropriate transmission gear position and shift schedule.

Since there are four switches, there are 16 possible combinations of open and closed switches (codes). Seven of these codes are related to gear position and three are recognized as “between gear” codes. This results in six codes which should never occur. These are called “invalid” codes. An invalid code will result in a DTC, and the TCM will then determine the shift lever position based on pressure switch data. This allows reasonably normal transmission operation with a TRS failure.

Do you have the factory tow package? If so, I would tap in there. If you have the factory 7 pin connector, the white with light green tracer is your back up power feed wire on the plug.

Don't think it's prewired for a back up camera. To my knowledge there is no video input in the back of the factory MyGig radio. Are you using an aftermarket radio? If not the only way to add a backup camera would be to get one of these

Thanks digger and Mike..

I have a Yada Blue tooth Mirror with back up camera already Installed.. ( my jeep does not have uconnect )

I found the white with green tracer at the back, and will run it to a relay at the dash. I had hope that wire might be found a little closer, but can work around that.

I am going to also have the option with a double throw switch to turn the camera off all together, turn it on automatically when I am in reverse or on whenever I want it to be, all thru the relay

Great forum !!

Thats almost exactly what i did. I first tapped into the reverse light wire close to the tail light housing and used that to trigger a relay for my extra reverse lights. The relay is stashed away in the emergency jack area. I also installed a switch to turn on the reverse lights anytime i wanted to. Later when i got my reverse camera, i tapped into the aux reverse light wire with the camera's power wire and my head unit's backup camera trigger wire. Now the camera comes on automatically when i put in in reverse gear or anytime i flip the switch. The lights also come on when i flip the switch. The electronics/ wiring section has some good wiring diagrams to follow for this and can be used even if not installing extra reverse lights.

Oooorrrrr you could tap into the reverse wire in the dash by the drivers feet. Have a look:

No problem! I just did mine last weekend except I hooked up to the wrong wire for the display... The wire at the tail light is white with a green stripe and the one under the dash that is white with a green stripe definitely isn't the reverse lights. The display only turns on if the radio is on lol
