| Post subject: | Gate Switch Malfunctioning |
After my last car wash, my 2009 liberty tells me the rear gate is open, even when it is closed. I took the gate apart, warmed up/dried all the electrical connections ( thought maybe some water got it there) and it became somewhat random, but then went back to usually malfunctioning. I have removed the 2 wire connector at the bottom latch and that removes the gate open switch function.( so my interior lights aren't on all the time ) Will I have to replace the latch mechanism to get the switch working again? I can't see how to take it apart to figure out the problem. Thanks for any possible advice, Ken |

The water from the flipper glass leak (I bet you have that too) has gotten into the tailgate latch, and ruined the electricals. Replace the tailgate latch, but before doing that, fix the flipper glass leak. Search on here for the solution to THAT problem. |
