Welcome. The Liberty is a pretty capable vehicle stock. If you are not looking to lift the jeep, then I'd be looking at upgrading the tires to AT's and a set of skid plates if you haven't done so already. The are a number of us who like to kayak/canoe so some roof cross rails will be helpful. If you are paddling solo and your boat is less than 10 feet, then you can fold the front passenger seat down and fit the kayak inside. I do this with a 9.5' kayak. Front tow hook. Some of us have 2 hooks on the front. Hitch reciever in rear. If you are looking for some lift, then I'd do that first before getting the new shoes. I use mine for the same things you mention; getting me to a trail head for some backpack camping with my son's Boyscout troop or towing a 3000lbs camper to an established park system campground. It doesn't do any one thing spectacularly, but it does do a lot of things nicely. (except fuel milage)

It has its quirks like everything else, but its a good all round vehicle.
