Hey finally decided to take my 2008 KK in for the check engine light. It has been on since I bought it 1 year ago exactly. As well as the gASCAP indicator.
Codes that were being thrown were small and large evap leaks.
The shady dealership I purchased it from replaced the gas-cap several times before i said screw you guys and lived with the beeps...

So the result today was small evap leak--gas cap not sealing
Large evap leak--sticking ESIM switch.

Total was $253--ouch, but not too bad...Id planned for a $500estimate

They wanted to also do diff fluids/trans fluids/oil change which I declined as I like to do those myself.

They also recommended a throttle body service, and an injector flush. I had no clue what these would entail, but an additional $240 didn't seem worth it. So, curiosity peaked I thought I would ask you guys what the heck a throttle body service did and what an injector flush would do and/or if these were needed, or can be done myself...(note with everything combined it would have been $1100....lol)

Anyways fairly pleased with my first Jeep dealership experience. I have never had a vehicle new enough to take to a dealer, so I was nervous and expecting a fortune to be paid.

Thanks,
Jeremy

How many miles do you have and do you have service records if bought used?
Transmission fluid change needs to be done at the dealership.
Cleaning the throttle body and injectors should also be done i think every 30k. Tjkj2002 would know for sure and tell you why. He will probably chime in on this. :juggle:

62k miles and no service records.
Why does transmission fluid need to be changed by dealership?

I guess you didn't notice you don't have a trans fluid dipstick...
The dealer uses a special scan tool to read temp to fluid level ratio.

nope sure didn't.
So are we really expected to have the dealer service our transmissions for the life of the vehicle?
Certainly some creative lost member has found a way around this???

Look in the tech section. Digger made a post about how to check your trans fluid without taking it to a dealer. I'm on my phone or I'd give you the link
