Hi cgass,
I took my drivers door apart to replace my broken side mirror back in March. Here is a link to some good directions with pics:

Where did you get your new mirror from? Mine's pretty busted up. The silver "reinforcement bracket" is broken into 3 pieces. Do the new mirrors come with one?

Yeah, faced with the $120 option of a new mirror, I sprung for a $5 tube of epoxy instead. The guy who sideswiped me only broke the plastic outer shell of the mirror and the internals were all ok. It doesn't look the greatest (looks glued!) but it works. I'm sorry yours doesn't sound like it can be fixed in the same way. In my research about a new mirror I found out that most aftermarket replacements are made of thinner material and actually vibrate annoyingly at highway speeds. The best thing is to get an OEM mirror, even though it's more expensive. Sorry for the bad news. :|

No, there is no hope of gluing mine. I wish. :banghead: If only that stupid tree hadn't been there :ROTFL: Thanks for the help.

Better to smash it on a tree while wheeling than get it clipped by a careless driver while your Jeep is parked on the street outside your house! (which is what happened to me) Yours has a good story behind it, at least! I was rear ended there in October, had the side mirror nailed in December, and this month had someone scuff the front fender, all while parked in front of my house! I wish there was off street parking, but no. Sorry, rant over. :)

They must be aiming for your Jeep :5SHOTS:

Just called a dealer, they want $172.68 for a new mirror. I may just go with a Chinese knock off mirror, I'll probably end up smashing it again. The trails are tight out here :JEEPIN:

Just ordered one yesterday from Rock Auto. For my limited with power folding heated and memory they were about &40 to $95. I chickened out on the cheaper one went with the spendier one. Jeep parts online gets about $143 for the factory one. Should be here in a coulpe days.

That's cheaper than the other ones I had been seeing. They were all around $75. I don't mind paying like $120 for a mirror, but $175 seems a little excessive.

Just had a thought. Anyone know if the KK mirrors have been replaced with TJ or JK mirrors? They seem to fold up a little flatter, and you can buy metal ones. I don't really care if they're power or not as I'm the only one who drives the Jeep.

Mirror is temporarily reattached. Its still going to need to be replaced though. Gives me a little more time to think about mods though

Anybody add the heated mirrors to a sport? I wonder if the wiring is in the door.

My 2012 sport has the defrost mirrors. Comes on with the rear defrost button on the dash

Any chance you could pop the door panel off and say how many pins the harness is? I'm hoping it's the same harness for non-heated and heated.

I looked into getting heated mirrors back when my drivers side mirror got broken. If you look closely at photos from sellers online, you'll see that the wire harness for the heated mirror is a different shape (more rectangular, larger) than than the wire harness for the non-heated mirror (more square) and the number of pins is different (10 vs. 8, if I remember right). Maybe someone will prove me wrong, but it didn't look like heated mirrors would plug and play with an '08 KK sport.

If this is the case and you just have to heater there are kits out there or just run your own wiring to a switch or rear defrost switch
